Facing Nolan

You know why this is a great documentary? I got my wife to watch it with me... And she really enjoyed it. Nuff said...

I didn’t know it was on Netflix until I saw this post. Watched it last night and it was just as awesome as I thought it would be.

Just watched this on Netflix as well. Good stuff. Recommend “Fastball” on Amazon as a follow up for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

Yeah, I thought the did a good job with their structure and storytelling. It really did reflect his personal life more than just baseball accomplishments….cool to see that his central focus was family and that influenced his decisions on where he played.
My two big professional stat thoughts:
- Criminal that he has 0 cy young awards…..though it was funny to see his peers recall him winning several as well
- Career strike outs - randy behind him by 839 Ks…randy could have likely taken him over, but would have needed to maintain similar production for 4-5 YEARS. With emphasis on pitch count and heavy reliever rotations, just can’t imagine this being topped again.

Thanks for the suggestion….looked at the summary on Amazon…..based on the Ryan doc he was hitting 107/108, sooooooo I think that’s the ending??? Also, I’d definitely watch anything baseball related with costner.
Reminds me of the phrase: when the legend becomes fact, print the legend.

I would unquestionably rate “Fastball” as the better documentary of the two, but both are excellent.

Randy was 45 when he retired and had not topped 200 k’s in 4 years so I really don’t think he was gonna come close. It’s amazing he got within 1000!
