I like the idea of no shift, but does anyone think hitters' approach will change as a result?
In other words, do we think that any hitter was thinking, "Well, because of the shift, I was going to try to stop pulling every pitch and hitting it to Mars, but now it's all good."

I'd be willing to bet this doesn't make the game any different.
Still a ton of strikeouts, and trying to hit 3-run homers with the bases empty.

There will be a handful of "excuse me" worm burner singles, but that's it.

    LOVE the pitch clock though.

I agree hitters' approach won't change much but we'll see a lot more singles and batting average will go up. We haven't seen anyone hit above. 350 in a full season since 2010. That might change. But overall I agree about the approach and strikeouts and home runs

The reason teams continue to shift is because hitters DON'T try to change their approach. If hitters couldn't adjust to the shift, they certainly aren't going to try to adjust now. But in theory they should get more hits with the rule change. Basically hitters are now going to be rewarded for being one-dimensional.

The pitch clock is great. Saw a few minor league games with it and it made a huge difference. Games were just way more engaging and fun to watch.

I will be curious to see how mad max deals with being told he has to pitch in a certain limit….my estimation watching him for years here in DC….it angers him sufficiently enough that he actually throws harder, more complete games, and plays till he’s 50….long live that crazy mfer
