@Misfits_138_1_PSN said in Pedro Throwing 102mph?:

I watched Pedro's entire career and was a big fan.
Never backed down, and wasn't afraid to put you on your rear end.

That being said, Pedro NEVER threw 100mph, let alone consistently throwing 102mph.
He was 95-97 4-seam with a ton of run, and just plain filth.

The only Starting Pitcher to throw 100mph consistently for 9 innings was Nolan Ryan.
    Period.
    End of story.

They don't need to add 5mph to his fastball. The card is already whack!

    Historical consistently, people.

I agree with you on this but only IF they dumb down these future stars cards. Hall of Famers should never be rated lower than a prospect, PERIOD!

They will have to just get rid of them if they are dumbed down though. No one is going to use them otherwise. Most people don't use them already. They dumbed down topps now cards this year and those are borderline worthless now

It won't happen but that would be fine by me. I think the should release these prospect cards at the beginning of the game so folks that like them can use them for a month or two. Topps now cards are beyond dumb too. Getting a 95 because you got 2 hits in 1 game?

Pedro didn't throw 100mph consistently in his career at all... he hit 95-97 average the first half of his career and averaged 91-93 the second half of his career. He was a power pitcher, sure... but what made him great was never his velocity. There are a few pitchers with outlier that didn't sverage 100mph, but it's a game and juiced cards are more fun. You can say they give out power ratings to guys that didn't have 30 HR in their career too. There are also future stars with ratings better than half of
the hall of famers released and haven't even played a full season yet. DD isn't supposed to be the mode most realistic to baseball... it's more of a fantasy mode and juiced cards are what keeps us engaged. If they released a Pedro with a 97 mph fastball... people would complain how bad the card is.

They wanted to make Pedro good, it’s the same reason Mo has 5 pitches and not just a cutter or fastball… It’s why we had a whole program to test out Roy Halladay before the release his 99… They want to make sure that the best pitchers can be useable, unless your Adam Wainwright.

If online used a salary/team overall cap it would be way more interesting.

    Say 85 overall.

This would keep more cards in play.
This would have folks building around players.

Just better than 99 squads IMO

Honestly I think that would make the situation worse. There would be one “meta ultimate super team” that comes in at exactly 85 on the dot and that’s the roster you would see every game.

Love this idea, of a salary cap mod with ranked seasons

Doesn’t seem like they want to give starting pitchers max per 9s at least not yet like last year. those no hitter cards with max per 9s last year were Busted so the other solution to make some guys viable this year is to give them a outlier fastball also the good old sinker to some who never even threw it also helps.

Bobby Miller has never thrown a single pitch around 100 in the MLB but he has outlier in a major league game! Unrealistic, sure, but so is every single future stars player. At least Pedro is a HOFER and given respect.

How is Pedro getting respect? Sorry, maybe I am reading what you said wrong, but I don’t know what you mean by he is given respect.
