Why does everybody here worry so much about who's moving to Madden or not??? I just don't understand what difference it makes. I play both games and use both forums and can say nobody from Madden forums cares about when this game launches. Is it because this game is a much smaller player base than Madden and less players is less fun? Is it just a good conversation piece in slower forums? It kinda reminds me of the guy who says he hates his ex-girlfriend, but talks about her still. Obviously Madden is a much more popular game, but still. Im not attacking, just curious why there has been 50 posts this week talking about people leaving for Madden.

Is there any good videos/documentaries on the psychology of gaming? It’s just really interesting to me how there’s always people who say the game is dead (why?) and then also a group of people who always try to prove otherwise… maybe some sort of self validation to how they’re spending their time. I’m not sure. It’s just interesting to me.

I just want good gameplay, sick and tired of diving plays and foul balls more than anything
This guy summed it up. Throw in every pitcher being able to make the once in a 100 fielding play on balls up the middle 90% of the time.
Fix those things and we are getting somewhere.

This is my second year to play and this "Madden" thing is one of the most perplexing things in the world to me. I really don't understand why it matters if people play Madden or not. There is nothing wrong with people playing another game or liking multiple sports. While I don't think "Madden" is really relevant to this forum, I definitely think it is relevant to SDS. To me it would seem like there are three main groups they are dealing with...
-
The group that only plays baseball games and will play this game no matter what games are released.
-
The group that likes or is interested in more than The Show, but their preference is to play The Show.
-
The group that is seasonal and it really doesn't matter what happens, they are going to play a different game like Madden when it is released and then come back to The Show when it is released the next year.
While I don't think "Madden" should matter to this forum, I would think SDS would want to create a game that was relevant all year long to keep Group #2 interested and maybe even pull back in part of Group #3 whenever possible. Unfortunately, I don't really know if they are accomplishing that this year. I am in that first group and really do not care about other games at all. I would play this game year round if gameplay was solid and I wouldn't care if the rewards sitting around at the end of the game cycle were 65 Alan Trammel's. I am playing less and less this year and even downloaded F1 this week to give it a try. I play for 15 minutes and come back to The Show though.
The problem is that I am in Group #1 and shouldn't really be looking for another game in August. If there are people like me, I think SDS is going to lose a lot of #2's and #3's throughout the year no matter what game it is that is being released.

I'm just patiently waiting for the new NCAA football next year...
I used to love the stadium rankings on the really old versions. The hardest stadiums to play in would have the screen shaking pre snap. One season I played through position locked to a FS and won the heisman. That game used to be so god [censored] good I really hope they do it justice but anyone waiting for that and hating on madden will probably be disappointed. It’s just a re skin but it’s the re skin everyone wants.
I'll just say this..... you DO NOT want to face me on that recruiting trail....

I don’t think they really care about group 1 though. Group 1 probably spends the least amount of money because they’re either very good at the game from playing it year round, or at least very good at DD (knowing the market, how to grind and be NMS easily.)
They are catering to groups 2 and 3. Which is why this year it’s harder to strike people out and launch angles are as random as ever. When last year at least strikeouts happened. The more random the game plays, the easier it is for worse players to stay in games. And it also explains why Griffey was so underwhelming. They could care less about content being usable for HOF+ because that’s where a lot of the Group 1s are and are in vast minority.
What’s puzzling to me is this is the make or break point in the year. People are either going to stick around or they’ll be gone with Madden or 2K. The content does matter for me specifically. I’m in the same boat with being a Group 1 guy but this year I have very little interest left and have very little interest in Madden too. In result I’m just not playing video games at all as much which isn’t a bad thing at all.

I'll prob be gone for ever from this game. Depending how customizable it is.

Yup, I'm playing MLBTS 22 until then. I won't even buy 23 because I will drop it as soon as NCAA comes out.
I'm going with that approach. I thought about going back to 21 to be honest.

I think that is a big part of it. A lot of gamers do seem to need validation.
They also act like there should only be one successful game per genre. That it is an Either/Or choice for gamers. That you either play The Show or Madden, Diablo or Path of Exile, etc.
It's baffling.

Very good post.... I'm usually the seasonal guy split between Madden and this. This year I am taking the year off of MUT and playing this til the end for the first time. Madden is fun... but MUT mode is such a time/money grind, I'm curious to see what it's like having year without feeling like I have to play Madden every day to stay caught up. One thing I love about this game is the fact I can not play for a week and come back and not feel like I'm way behind everybody.

I’ll pop in every now and then when a highly touted/desirable card comes out. But the days of me playing everyday religiously are pretty much over..as I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way. IMO they lost momentum by not releasing heat these last 2 weeks leading to other games like madden and eventually Nba2k. I got a feeling they will release something good for nba2k week in a last ditch effort to retain some player count and attention.
Cool so what's Madden and NBA gonna do when COD comes out? What's COD gonna do when God War comes out?
Not sure why everyone things that just because a game come out another game is going to respond directly. This console war BS is a internet gaming community construct that is so played out.
Tell me if so many players leave MLB when Madden and NBA come out why does SDS continue to support and provide content into the holiday season?
People like me only play MLB the show.
