5 time Gold glove Derek Jeter?????
If he wasn't a Yankee he wouldn't have won any gold gloves. He is an average at best defender and didn't have much power and also wasn't exactly a burner on the base paths so what attributes would be high enough to get him to 99?

Not trying to hate on the guy, he was a great clutch player and very consistent but never the best at anything. They have made fantasy cards for worse players to make them 99 so I'm not saying it won't happen one day, it just wouldn't be a realistic card.

They can manipulate numbers lol..they just have to go by his best year..1999 .349 avg and 24 homers 102 rbis 19 sb...

Worst defensive shortstop of all time. That is a statistical fact and not exaggeration.
That said, this is partly because he was “able” to play shortstop his entire career. Should have been moved to 2B or 3B at least halfway through.

Clemens was a steriod user so not sure he'd make the game.

I have to agree. Yes, its documented that he was not the greatest defensive ss, but he brought allot to the table. I feel that that they will give him his props when his card ever comes out.

Yeah, seeing as how they just released cards for Jackie and Mazeroski with each having mid/high 80s power - despite both guys never hitting more than 19 home runs in a single season - you can see how they would be able to finagle the stats.
There are 99 overall cards of widely unknown minor leaguers who might not even make a dent in the majors so I'm not sure why people would suddenly be so offended if Jeter ever got a 99.

Nintendo switch did leak a derek jeter thing at the beginning of the year and the tweet was taken down so I could see it being a big collection but Cutch was a big L for the amount of stubs it takes to get him. Would love to see a Koufax card

Horrible take? What year was Jeter the best SS in the league? Like I said, guy was a great player, deserves all the praise in the world but as far as how good people make him out to be you could argue he is the most overrated player in baseball history. Not because he was bad but because you would think the guy won 10 batting titles, lead the league in HRs every year and never made an error with the way people talk about him.

You can make a case for anybody really, but Paul O'Neill isn't the biggest stretch. A Signature Series based on 1994 when he won the batting crown by hitting .359 or Retro Finest based on his stretch from 1995-99 when he averaged .300+ AVG/20+ HR/100+ RBI with nearly a .400 OBP. He also played a solid right field and although he was slow the guy had an absolute cannon.
Not a stretch at all especially when immortals such as Jordan Walker have a 99 overall.
