This Roster update is a joke in baseball terms....

not knocking the game. There is plenty of that going around. But as a baseball fan with eyes, I find this update silly.
Many examples but Logan Webb up just +1 in insane.

I know that this is going to appear to some as just another Phillies rant, but I 100% agree with you on questioning their roster updates. Through the entire month of June Kyle Schwarber was one of the best players in baseball and went from a 75 to... a 76 lmao. There are just some players that they love and some that they don't. Look at how long Sandy Alcantara has taken to reach his deserved diamond status

The update might be a joke, but your guys' reasoning doesn't hold up. The way OVRs are calculated means that Schwarbs won't get much higher than he is unless he learns to play D, somehow gets a lot faster, or hits for more contact. If that's not the case, then what's the difference between him and Papi??? Kyle hits bombs, has a low average, can't run, and plays average/below average D.
My big complaint is that they seem to be too aggressive with this years' updates in general. And, secondly, that their initial ratings of some guys is so off that you see +25 to some attributes, which is just ridiculous.
-
I may be biased, but I would think Austin Riley would at least be an 85 based on his performance last year and his great first half this year.

I accept your reasoning on Schwarbs but my first point was Logan Webb. I’m his last 6 starts only 1 game with more than 1 earned run allowed. ERA+ is better than last year. K/9 down a little but FIP and BB/9 are the same and he started as a Gold.

Matt Olson went from a 78 to a 76 but according to his player page on the show the stats for the season are only through the 11th.

In their defense in July so far Alvarez is batting .226 and only .125 in the last week and he lost some contact numbers because of it.
There are plenty of questionable upgrades and downgrades for sure, I mean Harrison Bader was downgraded by 2 points and he has not played since June 25th.
To a certain extent we kind of brought this on ourselves. Everybody wants their favorite player upgraded when they have been hot for only a few weeks but then nobody wants them downgraded when the reverse is true.
I am as guilty of it as anyone else. Rooting for updates for my favorite players but at this stage, even my Cardinals theme team only uses 2 live series position players (Goldschmidt and Molina). Live series cards are almost obsolete at this point anyway. Is anyone who cares that much about Alvarez using the Live series card over the POTM card?

This is something they need to look into. Last big update the stats on Nolan Gorman's page were so remarkably wrong it was not funny. They had him at numbers he has not sunk to all season.
I made a post about it then but it fell off the front page quickly.
https://forums.theshow.com/topic/54865/sds-thanks-for-updating-nolan-gorman-finally-but-where-did-you-get-those-statsApparently nobody cares unless it is a player that they care about.
By the way Gorman was not updated at all this time so as far as I know his rating are still based on those bogus made up stats.

Bummer Jorge Lopez is still a 76… if your an all star think you should be at least a gold

Since he emerged as a great player, he's been someone I've noticed SDS seems to just not give much love to. It's a bummer because his card has a great swing and in real life, he's one of Atlanta's most impactful players.
But yeah, that's how I felt after looking through this update, too. I just think they've been way too loose with the downgrades, specifically, and they don't seem to make up for it when the player breaks that slump. I mean, maybe in some cases they do (I've noticed they have been about right with Jose Abreu all year) but there are a handful of players that seem to get downgraded hard and it has been extremely questionable.
They are much better than they used to be with relief pitchers, though; and that's been nice to see but everywhere else has been a mess all season.

bad take
-
Schwarber is a joke for sure. But so is this game lately. Seems the gerbils and hamsters are dying.
-
Sure, some people deserved better. However, every time I read people complain over roster updates I can only assume it’s because they invested in a certain player and they aren’t getting a return on their investment. That’s why it’s a gamble, you gambled and lost plain and simple. SDS didn’t tell you to invest your stubs.
This is why I don’t play the market. It’s not worth it and it would only be my fault if I invested and lost

This, this and more this
"Omg this player hit 4 home runs this week, when he is he going diamond"
"Omg this player hit .156 this week, why was he downgraded so much"!
I also think people just take it to personally in general, as if SDS is saying Yordan is trash by giving him a -1
Oh and also, people just don't generally look at what stats actually matter in upgrades.
"This guy has a 2.45 ERA"! -Cool, but like, where is the ERA stat that SDS upgrades? -

I invested in Webb yes but I got him low, were I can sell now and make stubs. I can quick sell and only loose a few stubs.

Dansby should have gotten more than a +1
Harris’s arm strength is at a 65 and his fielding is a 50-something and a 73 overall… or is it the next update when they upgrade/downgrade defensive attributes? Dude has been on a tear too. -

Where is war for stats on players in game? How is that relevant to an upgrade?
SDS doesn't usually touch defense until towards the end of the year.
