POTM has just been a check the box thing for me. I agree with you on the program not making sense. I made that comment a few weeks back and was basically told I was crazy. I have plenty of stubs so I can rent players, but if someone doesn’t have extra stubs for that, it is just a weird design…just like the Always Intense and other programs. It just doesn’t make any sense to use the cards you are going to earn to actually earn the cards. I truly have tried to understand the design and I just can’t. Can’t believe I am saying it, but I much preferred “beat the Tigers on All Star”…and I will take stat mission any day.

My kid is 17 and absolutely loves this game but is hardly playing this game this year. He just doesn’t have stubs to do things like rent players and he wants to actually play games, not constantly earn pxp to earn the cards.

To answer your question on actually using a POTM. I still use Joc as a LH bench bat. Rizzo and Devers I have not.

I moved back to franchise, getting my XP there (will probably finish the East Conquest map on the last night of this program; maybe) and haven't started the Topps Now moments; and the moments are starting to pile up.

If I can't find the fun again playing offline with real MLB players, then I'm done with this game. I think 19's setup was the best balance we had. 20 wasn't half bad except for the blood diamonds and 21 was too much. They scaled back this year, but POTM are way too long for the reward.

Thinking you're both right and I'm burnt out. Played the heck out of Shredder's Revenge the last 10 days, and my wife was like "Finally!! you're having fun gaming!"

I ended up biting on PS+ premium. The selection of games is pretty solid for just launching the service

I'm waiting to get my hands on a PS5; now that my son (11) games quite a bit, I have to manage the space on the HDD every time I want to add a game. FF7 Rebirth's release is the deadline to get an overpriced one from a sclaper if I can't get one through regular channels until then.

Yeah some games just take a ridiculous amount of storage space these days. Literally the only reason I stopped playing COD is because the updates are like 50GB anymore

UPDATE: just ordered a PS5 through Walmart Canada. Should be here July 5th; 3 weeks before my 3-weeks vacation 🙂

Update 2: they cancelled my order; probably oversold. JFC

This weekend I played through Deliver Us The Moon on PS Plus Extra. I'd still like to try Returnal and Dark Souls remake which are also in that tier, although the difficulty of each may stop me in my tracks at some point.

It seems like an off topic tangent but in reality, my love of different types of games and desire to play more than just MLB The Show every time I sit down and fire up the console is the reason these new programs take so long.

I can understand that but I generally don't mind moments and the Topps Now ones are usually not that bad. It also helps that I keep up with them as they are released and don't wait until the POTM is announced to try and do them all.

I enjoy them but I also really like switch guys in an out of my line ups and don't focus on a main squad to much so alot of this year's game is very much in my wheel house compared to others so I recognize my view is bias when I say they are great programs.

One note I will make about OPs concern about using the boss card to earn the 4 lesser cards. You have to look at this as SDSs way of offering the full set for free. It's the optional free way to get all the cards in the set for free, kinda like innings in RS if you play and use the cards enough you get something.

I find the best way to get the program done is buy all the low rated hitting cards and 1 SP and grind out conquest doesn't take long to get the required pxp.

They just make little sense to me. The only explanation I can com up with is that they simply wanted to prolong the programs.

Assuming you just play them straight and do not buy cards.....

    1. Why are 4 of the under cards harder to earn than the boss?
    2. Why must we earn one player and then reach a PXP level with them before we get the next?
    3. Has anyone actually used the final card you earn in either program. Assuming you did not buy cards, the moment you earn the final card the program is already over and there is nothing to do with that card.

In the end I guess I just am a little annoyed at how much time I have spent playing games with players from the program while my main squad sits idle. I am a little annoyed that Martin Perez is my highest paralleled player. That was never my intention.

I have a squad full of Rockies for their Nike City program but I would really like to use my main squad now because in a week or so I will need to start replacing them with the newest Topps Now and POTM cards.

None of this may be an issue for those who invest a lot of hours but when you don't play a lot these POTM programs can begin to feel all encompassing.

Its alright. Its one of the few single player things im actually working on in DD each week. The main program i dont really focus on, but just comes with playing the game.

I like those things too, I just don't like the arrangement of the program that you have to navigate to get them.

On #3. I have used all the lightning cards I've earned. They've been fun at times. I just wish Rizzo and France had better speed.

Well Rizzo was the lightning card.

I am just talking about the card you earned from the very last no sell pack in the program rewards. Maybe I am wrong but it seems logical for me that the last player selected in the whole program is one you passed on every other time you had a chance to choose from that level so therefore it is probably card you are least interested in.

"Here, use this lightning card POTM to earn enough PXP so that you can finally get that card that you have already passed on several times before".

I’ve been a little underwhelmed with the structuring but at least the cards are pretty good. POTM Rizzo is one of my faves to use.
