Pitching Explanations - need help

So I'm constantly giving up solo dingers on 1-2 and 0-2 counts. I desperately try to throw the ball in the dirt and will often get a perfect release yet the ball will hang and go right down the middle and be smashed for an absolute nuke lol. This is happening like 3-4 times per game. I'd say 90% of the runs I give up at this point are solo homers when I'm pitching ahead in the count.
I'm only hovering around 600 ranking. I do use the crappy default pitching so I know I should probably switch pitching options but can anyone help explain what determines where the ball will go? Is it solely based on a pitcher's control with a specific pitch? Would me learning more about my current DD pitchers and their control stats help me to throw different pitches in those situations? Is this RNG? lol it just happens way too often.

Yes this happens to me as well in an 0-2 count. You can see the control of each pitch by clicking the R3 button in the stats screen for each pitcher. (only in the main menu not in game) Or you can go to theshowzone.io and look up your pitchers and it will tell you there. This is one of my biggest complaints with this years game.

If you get perfect release, the ball should (debatable if it does) land in the PAR region (dark circle around the ball when picking location). For reference, from most to least accurate input method/smaller to bigger PAR:
Pin point>meter>analog>pulse>classic.

Overall within 21 & even more so now with 22, SDS has made it impossible to have any control or command on the pitches you throw if you are using Classic Default Pitching. It's like they are forcing players to use Meter, Pulse or Pinpoint to have any kind of steady control & command. This effects me offline because CPU hitters most times will never chase anything way out if the zone & I tend to walk more batters then actually allowing hits. The very rare times the CPU does hit a HR off of me is when ofcourse pitched are hanged over the plate beyound my control. Like if the CPU purposely will hang your pitches every so often. Online it helps me for most part becuse oddly how who I am playing does not know where my intended location would be until the pitch is thrown. I myself dont even know myself. I am targeting low & outside corner & instead ut goes in high & tight. What hurts me most online is when my pitchers are hanged and are hit for a No Doubt HR.
Up until 20, Pitching has always been my strong point to win games online. As long as I got lucky to score 1 to 3 runs, I was most times able to keep the opposing team down with 0 to 1 runs. However since 21 when SDS tweaked all the pitching around. Its been impossible to play a game online & surrending less than 3 runs within a 9 inning game. I am losing a lot more now then I ever did online before because of this. That is why I really lost interest in playing anything online with Ranked, Events or BR.

If being ahead in the count leads to opponent home runs, then logically being BEHIND in the count would not. I say you start a game and get everyone to 2-0 to start, and then see what happens.

I feel ya on this OP. I don't think every pitch should go exactly where it does but rarely in MLB does a pitcher hang one in the zone when he is trying to throw it in the dirt. If a pitcher misses in the circumstance he is usually throwing in the dirt on or before home plate NOT hanging one in the zone!

Meter, Pin-Point, and Analog are the 3 most accurate when it comes to Competitive. They announced that pre-launch last year when PAR and PPP was introduced.

See my other post for more info. You also have different movements depending on which square you place the pitch in. Elevation of stadium matters as well. To find info on stadium in game Pause/Stats/Game log, this will give you alot of info.

I pitch meter and it will leak to the middle like that even on perfect pitch releases....no matter of the control on the pitch. I don't mind pitches missing, even missing on to the plate more, its just the hangers that are forced that make me made, and yes most occur on off speed under the zone, but sometimes a sinker or fastball inside will be forced down the middle. It would be super annoying if they made them go exactly where you wanted every time, so there does need to be some variance but more based on location thrown. IE: Inside sinker, but goes inside for a ball, or goes out on the plate 3 inches instead, under the zone change gets part of the lower zone or goes even further in the dirt.. but not straight down the pipe

This is basically the issue. I should have been clearer in my original post. I use meter as well. Man I try so hard to get a curve to bounce in the dirt without like just throwing the ball 6 feet off the plate but a perfect release for w.e reason consistently (meaning like a good 30% of the time it feels like) just causes the ball to sail upward to the middle of the zone.

Thanks will check this out. Normally I'm pretty bad at the game online but this year I switched to playing on a monitor and I've been doing a lot better hitting than I normally do and it's super frustrating my pitching has been terrible. In games I'm scoring 3-4-5 runs I'm giving up 4-6 solo homers on counts I'm ahead in lol

Do not throw sliders on 0-2 or 1-2 pitches. LOL. I feel like it is the best worst pitch. If it does what it is supposed to do you can tie up hitters or wipe them out same side. However, I feel like of all the pitches it is the slider that hangs the most even with good user input.

most people tat are thinking about it are looking off speed, particularly sliders. Sometimes a fastball on the black eats them up in those counts

Yeah unfortunately this has only gotten worse. I continue to give up 5-8 solo homers a game on counts I'm ahead in. I attempt to throw a ball in the dirt, have perfect pitch release and the ball goes right down the middle. It's so frustrating since I literally can't execute any better on my controller.
