I know I will get blown up for this comment.... but I don't see why he would be a 99. IMO... he's not even the best player on his team. He doesn't have the best hitting numbers and he's not the best defensive OF either.... why would he get the only LS 99????

He has the best hitting numbers in the MLBHes currently the best player in baseball, like he was every year 2012 - 2019.
No... he definitely doesn't have the best hitting numbers in MLB this year. Go look at the stats. Othani is better... he hit 35 HR and pitched every 5 days. Nobody can top that in baseball
Arguably he does have the best hitting numbers. First in Slugging, first in OBS. Only player you could say is having a better hitting season so far is Machado. That would be debatable.

I agree. But if someone were to argue I wouldn’t take offense if Machado was brought up.
Good news is we got 4/5 of a season left for that all to get sorted out

I feel like this is the first year he's actually received an upgrade mid season. I was beginning to think they just auto capped live cards at 95. That being said, there's not reason his inside edge shouldn't almost always have him at 99 right now...

He has the best OPS in baseball (and by a big margin), he's a far better hitter than Ohtani.
Ohtani is neither the MLB's best pitcher nor hitter. He simply excels at both simultaneously, which is incredible.
However right now I don't think I take Ohtani over Trout.

Not saying Ohtani is the better hitter, but I think Ohtani is the best player in baseball right now. Trout hasn't played enough to be considered the best player either... let's see if he can play a full season. If you don't stay on the field.... you can't be called the best. That's like saying Bo Jackson is the best football player ever.

Hes only really missed significant time twice in his career. Trout has definitely played enough to be considered the best, because he is the best.
