I haven't played much online, but I'd love to give it a go. What's the best way for someone to work their way into this? Which mode should they start in?

What skill do you play vs CPU most of the time?

I'd suggest playing the CPU on HOF and then go to ranked seasons. It will look like slow pitch softball.

I would do events. Can't go wrong with free entries. Then you'll get used to how people play online without stressing too much

I'll say BR because you're not going up against god squads. You'll face low level pitchers, so take pitches and be patient. But you'll have to pitch with them too, so throw junk until you can't anymore and don't let your pitcher get into the red!

Here's how it's gonna go for you.

Sinker inside, sinker inside, offspeed in the dirt.

Events and BR. Agree with the posts above. Events are free and BR the teams aren’t god squads and you get a chance to try out different cards. Another suggestion may be to see if you can get someone to play co op with and they can help “guide/teach” you when you’re just starting out.

My best advice is to get a year's supply of Hot Pockets and Red Bulls and get ready for non realistic baseball gameplay, and you might develop an addiction for buying virtual cards of dead players cause you need them on your DD team to compete with other teams of dead players.

If you are going to play online, the biggest thing to focus on is being patient. Swinging at every pitch will lead to broken controllers. Get a pitch you like... You will most likely hit a perfect perfect lineout, but at least you're making contact.

What nobody has mentioned so far, though, might be the most important thing.

    Monitors.

Playing on a good one makes hitting a lot easier, especially if you suck like me. (I suck less now.)

Yes, good point. I think the reason why so many people play on All-Star level or lower and with default pitch speeds is they are playing on TVs...I feel if people changed to monitors this game will have a lot less noobs.

My best advice would be your hitting view. If you wanna see your players full body I’d suggest strike zone 3 that’ll give you the best view where you can still sort of see your batter if you don’t care use strike zone view and practice pinpoint pitching. If you go to diamond dynasty and play online you’ll see a spot that says casual in the bottom right. Start there

Giants fan come on over to online rated with real teams play on HOF difficulty and don’t look back. If do decide to play DD you’ll be better prepared for all 99 teams

One thing DD ranked season will teach you is to be patient. If you are not very unlikely you will win.

Imop online rated plays better than DD . It just more realistic . But most people prefer DD .

Online co op is awesome when it works. Especially if you have one or two guys to play with.

My advice is to just enjoy it even if you are getting outplayed. Learn from mistakes and focus on not giving away at bats.

Don't swing at first pitch in at every at bat

Sometimes it's even better to not swing it all, most people don't throw strikes anyways
Just start swinging at 2 strikes

You're trying to talk baseball fundamentals to DD guys man, its like trying to talk physics to a flat Earther..............its not gonna work.
