The infield diving plays are ridiculously OP. Fielding rating doesn't matter one bit, everybody is a Platinum Glover out there. Let's see who disagrees and thinks this is totally realistic and "JuSt BaSeBalL bRo".

I agree. And when I try a diving play with someone like Sandberg, who has diamond defense the ball kicks off his glove and rolls into shallow RF.

I'd like to add that it's okay for them to happen with diamond or sometimes even gold fielders, but the frequency HAS to be tuned down.

If we're talking about the CPU yah I think they broke the sliders turning them up this year. For online I think it just has to be determined by whether the player controlling them got there then the RNG dice roll to see if the ball bounces off. Wouldn't be upset if they turned up the frequency the ball bounces off lower level defenders tho.

I did it in a RS game last night, and it happened 3 times against me. It's out of [censored] control.

Had a BR game where I had a bronze 2nd baseman with [censored] fielding and had a ball hit in the gap between 2nd and 1st. I accidentally hit the dive button too early and thought to myself well that was early it's getting through. No my guy just kept sliding until he got the to the ball. It was almost like he had taken off running and slid on one of those yellow slip n slides. It worked in my favor but was ridiculous at the same time. Then a couple pitches later a routine flyball got hit to Kurt Gibson where he was running when catching it, but was a routine run, not like he was in a full sprint and the ball just hits him in the glove and he drops it.

No I was actually talking about online gameplay. Offline is whatever, I'm used to the fielders being superman. But online it's quite ridiculous and it doesn't just happen against me, my own fielders make the auto dives all the same and save so many base hits or more. It's stupidly overpowered and the frequency of these happening is way too high.

Maybe this is the trade off from the 2B grounder freeze offs from last year?!?!

I think they need to really work on locking animations to certain levels. I feel like they do that to a point now but there are still some animations that bronze shields have no business making. I also think they need to do a better job as far as speed and fielding effecting how far a player can dive. At the moment it seems like there is just one set diving distance for all players.

Defense only seems insane because of the dives, otherwise it seems normal. I will say defense actually seems to matter more at 1B this year. I’ve noticed a ton of plays where Thomas doesn’t make a play I know a Diamond fielder would/has consistently. Still not a huge risk but it can be the difference between a hit or an out.

For me it's all the same, in BR I draft mainly offense which usually results in very average defense and they make all the plays almost all the time.

They make routine plays and will keep balls in the infield most of the time but have you played with a Diamond 1B a decent amount?

The diving plays are straight up soul crushing at times. They would be bad enough on their own but add them into a game where you already get punished for making good contact and its just that much more devastating.

No, but what does it matter? An out is an out regardless of defensive rating or defensive shield.

A ball knocked down instead of fielding it cleanly can be the difference of turning 2 or not, plus the range chasing foul pop ups can be the difference of a foul or out.

I don't think you understand, I'm saying that bronze or even common fielders make all the plays all the same when it comes to the auto dives.

My guys make these plays because my stick skills reign supreme. I know that for a fact. 100%.
