I think I'm going back to franchise mode
-
Up until a few years ago I basically only did franchise mode, with my hometown team Brewers. I tried DD in '19 and I got hooked on it. It was great. Idk why but for whatever reason I just can't get into it this year like the past few years. Idk if it's the way they did the programs or what but I just don't have the urge to grind for stuff this year.
The other night I got off work and the wife and kids were gone and I was planning on finally playing into the night, but I played a few games and I was like meh and turned it off. I mean, I literally just spent 75K of my hard earned stubs (especially this year!) on a 50 Pack just for the heck of it and I never spend stubs on packs! In case you were wondering I pulled 0 diamonds and only 2 golds in the whole bundle. Only diamond I got was a Salvy from the extra pack you get with the 50 bundle.
Anyways this is my rant, I'm excited to get my Brewers chise going! Go Crew!

Don’t blame you for not wanting to play DD. From the gameplay to content it hasn’t been fun.

I feel the same way except with last year's game. I had so much fun last year. I couldn't wait to get home and play BR. This year is quite the opposite, I get excited when they put out new offline content and I dread having to play online. Also last year I really enjoyed playing around on the market; this year the market is a dumpster fire
-
I completely get where you are coming from. Last year was the first time I had played The Show in years and it was the first time I had played with DD. I had no intention of playing DD, but gave it a try with my son. We probably both got hooked because of the card collecting aspect. I had way more fun than I ever expected even though a lot of the gameplay drove me batty. Played mostly offline, but then ventured online and found a love for BR. Played almost the entire year until taking a bit of a break to rest up for 22.
This year it has just not captured me. I couldn’t find time to finish the first season of BR since so much was going on, but told myself I would finish season two and then see how I was feeling. I finished last week and haven’t thought about playing online since. Today I decided to play online rated and it was definitely the most fun I have had all year. I miss getting to create my own team, but the gameplay was so enjoyable. Not trying to be one of those DD stinks guys and Online Rated is amazing, but I just see me doing things differently at this point. Maybe I’ll do offfline DD or still do BR…who knows? But I do know I would be crazy to not try more Online Rated even test out Franchise.

Doing the same thing now.
Dd major let down this year. Last year I couldn’t get enough.
Franchise is simple. Play baseball vs cpu. That’s it.

Agreed. I can't put my finger on it, but something feels off to me, too. Maybe it's the new programs? They seem kind of slow, too. I don't have the desire to grind through all the missions. As much as I like getting new cards, I think I might head over to Franchise or Road to the Show for a while.
Or maybe, it's just after three years of DD I realize these early months are kind of pointless. Why am I working so hard to get a 91 diamond card, when in a few months they'll be giving those away?

I have some thoughts of starting a Franchise, but I like DD, I been playing offline, I mostly do the Mystery Map for the 5 free packs each time. I do some of the others stuff. I do not care for moments.

I'm just really only doing Conquest, MTO & RTTS for XP towards the main Program. I'm planning to get into Mini within this week or next due to my DD Team being finally strong enough with a full Diamond Line-Up, Rotation & Bull Pen so I cane get by those 30 wins more easier then when I tried 1st time last month with a DD Team having mostly Golds & Silvers.
I feel the same way as most have all stressed in this thread. Online play with Ranked, BR & Events just does not excite me or motivate me to even start trying to play those modes. The rewards they are offering so far, I just dont feel or think it's worth the time & grind.
As well this year the market is HORRIBLY LOUSY to flip cards. Most cards (of ANY type) wont give a buy/sell profit margin over 3,000 & those few that will give 2,000 to 3,000 profit are a dogged out biding war with so many others targeting those same few cards to flip. So it seems for me it will take me until around the All-Star break or sometime after before I can complete the LS Collection due to Trout, Acuna, Vlad Jr, Tatis, Ohtani, Degrom each being hardest to pull in packs & each currently selling over 150K in stubs.
22 so far is a BIG BUST for me personally.

Conquest is the only thing that even keeps me on DD, I used to do only Franchise until 18
-
Same man. I am usually not much of a complainer, but they really screwed up combining all this stuff in DD this year into one program. It is by far the least hooked I have been since 18. Gonna try Franchise as well, maybe move the athletics out of Oakland...

Yeah I love CQ, and I am starting to really like Mini Seasons. The first one had some issues but hopefully this new one we do not get any issues. It pretty fun. I was able to complete to Season of the first one.

Yeah man there isnt really anything to look forward to in DD currently but once they start dropping cards like Babe Ruth or Chipper Jones you will be back. This is how they get us is by our sick love of the game.

With how badly they nerfed the market, it's not fun...and you still can't sell duplicate of no sells, yet you continuously get them. And the rewards just aren't good enough out of the programs, either. Sorry but I'm not gonna sweat my nads off in a grind for a barely diamond 85...
-
I said this in another thread but agree, the game just isnt fun this year. Way to much grind for little and uninspiring rewards...

The Rewards last year where awesome Team affinity was a gold mine for stubs/rewards . I think it’s gonna be a while before we see elite Reward cards , last year the power creep was fast this year it seems they don’t want NMS people to be loaded fast with stubs/Rewards.

Totally get it. If you are going to go back to just franchise, I'd recommend going back to MLBTheShow 20 (Javy Lopez Edition). It's by far the best Franchise experience over the past 4-5 years, with the best CAPS and Custom Rosters..... and the trade logic, while still not great, is still way better than 21 and 22. Getting rid of year over year saves starting in 21 has basically killed the golden goose with Franchise.

I haven't started my Franchise because I was waiting for someone to come up with a decent roster. And literally the only reason I bought 22 at all, was because they said the trade logic was improved. I was playing 20 before that, and completely skipped 21. And to be honest, I didn't see a huge problem with the trade logic in 20, although, they did have the habit of trading off their best players for nothing, which is what I hoped had been fixed.
If that isn't the case, then I guess I wasted $60, but it's still a pretty cool game.
