So after not being able to play BR tonight, I came on the forums to see what's going on with online being down. After reading through a couple threads on this new 120hz update and that I have to set my refresh to not allow 120hz in order to play online I am extremely confused what changed today. I am using a 4k 120hz monitor on PS5 and have had my settings set the same since I got PS5 and have never had to change them in any other game until today. Why would I have to set my 120hz PS5 and monitor to not allow it all of a sudden? Does this mean that my framerate is going to be slower now on and offline, just offline, or neither. I thought all along I was using 120hz framerate, but now it seems like it only was offline and now neither unless I go into to settings and turn it off and on every time I go into on and offline modes? I'm just very confused why this update now means I have to disable 120hz in order to play this game. Any help for a total dummy when it comes to this kind of stuff is greatly appreciated... I'm not sure if I should be passed off or this makes absolutely no difference for this game anyways.
Because without VRR, the 120hz refresh rate could have noticable screen tearing and stutter in game. In order to have VRR (freesync), a person would need a display with HDMI 2.1 (assuming SDS implements VRR for PS5 users).
So unless you have a special hdmi setup you couldn't get 120hz anyways? Is that just for online play or PS5 altogether?
You can still receive the 120hz refresh rate without HDMI 2.1, as long as your display can handle it. HDMI 2.1 allows for VRR, which helps "smooth out" the faster framerates in select games. However, MLBTS is capped at 60fps and no word on when they will implement VRR online.
So basically, while the faster refresh rate is definately noticable offline, I am not sure how noticable it would be playing online h2h as things currently sit.

So as a PS4 player who just turned off cross play I will now get a fairer game experience?
Thank you SSS. I need my setup to last one more year.

Not sure if it’s some glitch or if SDS is purposely blocking 120 hz for online play on ps5. It would be terrible if it’s the latter seeing that people on the series x and s have been able to play with 120 hz mode on since mlb 21. How can Sony allow its own game to run better on an opposing console? ️
Sony just released VRR today for PS5 consoles, unlike X, which had this feature for a while. Hopefully, SDS will be now able to implement the same features that X users have, asap.

Instead of flooding the forum with the now 5th post about the same thing, you probably could have just posted this in one of the other ones. Just saying.
You should apply to be the mod since you care deeply about what/how things should go on here.
Stop being the white knight. Noone cares about your opinion....EVER

So basically nothing changed in this game today other than disabling the 120hz setting because now it's available on other Sony games? I play on a PS5 and 120hz monitor with a sandard hdmi, but I had to disable it in my settings tonight in order to play BR. I'm just really confused if The Show was ever even using 120hz before at all and isn't now or never was in the first place and it's just a glitch that now i have to disable it in settings to play online.

Sorry about that man, please understand that we need our setup to maximize our experience. We can’t keep being hindered, we need to use the hardware we have in its full capacity.

Maybe you should have just stopped clicking on flooded posts instead of rushing into to mine to chime in... I appreciate your interest though. I said I read through the posts and still didn't understand what changed today and how it affects me specifically.
Makes perfect sense.
Read the multiple posts, not understand them....instead of engaging in discussion with people on THOSE posts, start a new one to tell people i don't understand what the other posts were about.
Yeah....that's....yeah.
At least you got the title right.

So, it says my monitor can’t do VRR. (I can get the 120hz) but my monitor says it has freesync (AMD adaptive sync).

Mine is the same, I’ve noticed a slight tear whenever the camera changed too fast, for example on a throw from third to 1st base, it would tear a little when the ball was caught by the 1st baseman, nothing game breaking tbh

So is conquest considered online or can I leave 120 on for that

I hadn’t yet matched up with a switch user this year (thinking now, would that actually indicate a different icon, or is it just a remote linked PS/Xbox account…..not that in tune to the system and no interest in the handheld), but I think I’ve actually won more consistently against Xbox users.
And then what do we lowly PS4 users do if/when PS5 upgrades as well???

You can leave it on for conquest. It doesn’t work for live head-to-head matches.

When PS5 gets upgraded SDS should count PS4 v PS5 as cross play. We paid the same price for the game and should have an equal footing. If PS5 users get an advantage in frame rate then they we should have the option to not offer ourselves (ps4 users) as prey.

You must be a pathetic little man to get off on insulting people on an internet forum. Stay behind your keyboard internet toughguy. I will make any thread I want and most people won't click on a thread they feel is redundant... but a real loser can't help himself. I said I was dumb when it comes to monitor and gaming settings... but I bet it made your ego feel good to repeat that for me. Sad little man to sit behind a keyboard in the safety of your home and insult people. I'm gonna make some more repeat threads about monitor settings later, so you have something to do today. TTYL

That was my assumption that the game is capped at 60fps on ps5- this new 120hz upgrade will still have the frame rate at 60fps or am I wrong?!

Yes, many X users are able to play this game online h2h with 120hz/60fps with VRR active. Where Sony next gen users are only able play online h2h on 60hz/60fps with no VRR.

Right that’s what I thought- I think some people think with the VRR 120hz upgrade that the game is going to jump to 120fps- which is not the case
