VRR on PS5!! Yay!!
Is that effective now?
Yes, it is in video settings.
Wow so we get 120hz and VRR in the same day? Jamming
I am pretty sure added at the same time, just didnt see it. One basically comes with the other.

Not for everyone I think, they tested it with a selection first no?
Not sure about that.
I don't have it yet, but there have been images circulating for weeks from people who were part of the test.
I saw it when I was on my Monitor, but couldnt turn it on. Hooked up to my OLED and it turns on.
So you do have it right now?
Yes, but you have to click the button underneath to get VRR with The Show. If not it will stay fixed. Ill post a couple pics one with and without.

So my monitor doesnt support brr apparently but i have 120 hz on screen… what does this mean?

Precisely that. That you can run 120hz but not VRR. So you could have some screen tearing.

This is if you dont click "apply to unsupported games"
And then when you do:
-
What is screen tearing? And if the show does switch to 120 will mine run in it? Im old sorry. I have tried batting practice and its night and day

Im not sure when this stuff was added. I dont remember a recent update and been messing mainly with my Series X lately.

Screen tearing or "stuttering" is when your display refresh rate does not match the games graphical output. This is why VRR has a lot of potential benefits, as it corrects this. It allows for smoother gameplay, especially important if fast pace/frame games like this one.

Another question. What is hrd and should I have it on or off. I've noticed that my monitor has a setting when I turn hdr on my ps5 on my monitor switches to Game HDRi but it I trun it off on my ps5 it switches to off

Nice. Im wondering if you select the "apply for unsupported games" if that will allow you to play online. I cannot test it right now.

I did turn that on and I will test it in a minute. I'll let you know.

@xelrojo44x_mlbts said in Question about vrr and 120hz:
The main benefit with VRR is that it syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphic output. So if the game and monitor is using 120hz, you could have screen tearing and stutter without VRR. This is why freesync and 120hz can be excellent for fast paced games, like this one.
A lot of people think it’s a good idea to play without VRR when available to them, but that only applies to cpu. On consoles if you do not enable VRR the console reverts to another inferior form of screen tear prevention called V-Sync that makes input lag even worse. The console companies don’t want people disabling it and thinking their console is broken due to the blatant visual issues.
On a cpu you can disable everything and have the best possible input lag with screen tearing etc….

You should use it on your monitor regardless. That's what I'll do.

An article said all games will be supported, but it looks like right now we have issues lol. But offline I think things are working for the most part.
When I say all games I mean for VRR not 120 fps.

You mean "HDR"? If so, leave it on for movies but off for this game. HDR (High Dynamic Range) expands the range of your white/black color levels of your display... For an example, in a 4k/HDR movie with a night time car race scene, the lights of the cars will look brighter and more realistic with HDR enabled.
If you have "game mode" on your display, than use that and it should automatically turn HDR off for you.

What I did notice, is that after I turned VRR on my monitor says the game is fluctuating in Hz around 60Hz, even though my PS5 video output still says 120hz + VRR enabled, as you can see here. The image does feel a lot more fluid and the timing seems similar to when my monitor said 120hz without VRR. Small sample size though but interesting.

Yeah I was noticing that too. I expected it to do more like Series X and bounce back and forth between mid 80's to about 118 but it just fluctuated around 60.
