This doesn't bother me as much as it has on the past. I only play conquest, since mini season is broke...the CPU always seems to change pitchers every inning. Whereas in the previous years, you could pound a pitcher, and he'd be in till the 3rd inning or when he came up in the lineup.

We should have a roster lock in RS similar to what is in events but on a game by game basis. From that locked roster we could have a vs RHP & LHP lineup…similar to what happens in say…baseball.
Except DD is not real MLB... There are events for LH vs RH and vice versa every year.
But this would solve the problem without having kids back out if they know a lefty was on the bump.
no thanks....then you would likely be playing at a disadvantage due to the other team having all righties or lefties. Not to mention people would start a LHP or RHP opener to lock in that players lineup, then put in the same handed guy the second inning
And that would simulate a legitimate strategy because it is exactly what TB started doing 2-3 years ago. Also, starters coming out of the bullpen have a significant penalty with regards to stamina…so bullpen arms and management would play a bigger role as a player has to be on your active roster to regenerate stamina on a day they are not pitching.
no one does that....no one has 9 quality L or R bats to carry on a roster to do that. No one carries roughly 18 position players on the roster to fit that possibility anyway .key word is quality, bc no one in real life has 8-9 Legends and all stars to do this.
What are you talking about? Just because no one currently does this does not mean that our game, strategy, and meta should not evolve.
Case in point: I carry LS Realmuto on my bench as a backup. No MLB team carries a backup catcher for their bat, but they all carry a backup catcher. If I go into extra innings and have a slow 1b or C as a ghost runner Realmuto does his job and goes into the game. 2 popups or 1 hit brings him home. It is a sound baseball decision.
If you want to insist on having a bench with boppers who can barely field a single position then that is on you. If you think having Big Papi, Ryan Howard, Nelson Cruz, etc. on your bench is sound baseball then you should be penalized in the field for being ignorant of team construction mechanics. 1-2 big bloopers on the bench should be fine, but role players and position versatility need to be encouraged if we want a better baseball simulation.

I get what you're saying, but I believe it's different when playing conquest or mini seasons because we're playing against the CPU and not another player. There's no reason for us to not know which hand starter the CPU is using so we can stack our lineup accordingly. In real life many teams have different lineups based on LHP or RHP. Why can't we in DD?

I wish there was some way we could see if the opposing pitcher was a lefty or a righty so we'd know how to stack our lineup. I'm playing the Mariners and assumed I was getting Robbie Ray and so I stacked my lineup with right-handed batters but I got Logan Gilbert instead. It really put me at a disadvantage.
I added this function to my Lineup and Depth Chart spreadsheet. Now, I always know who the starting pitchers are for each CPU team and what order their rotation is.
-
I get why it's the way it is, and don't mind it. What I wish we could do is set each lineup for LHP and then RHP. It's got to the be same 26-man roster, so you really can only platoon a couple spots here and there. So, for instance, your main lineup. You could set the batting order versus LHP and RHP with the same 26 guys, and then you go into a game with that roster. It doesn't let you change once you see the pitcher. You either get your RH or LH lineup, but it's also the same 26 guys so it's not a lineup full of lefites and a lineup full of righties.

You just proved my point about the fantasy level players on teams, if you want real baseball strategy play online ranked, DD is a fantasy mode with minor strategy decisions due to stacked teams. I wish they would switch it just so you have to face randy Johnson, Chapman, Wagner, Kershaw etc every game you go in with all lefties just to see how dumb your suggestion is. Sometimes you have to live with the way it is to prevent exploits. Now against the computer I could care less how they do it bc it’s so easy it doesn’t make a difference to me, so I’m that regards I’m ok with it.

I am cool with it offline, just not online DD play

if you are playing conquest always start your number 5 starter. The cpu then starts theirs, then you start to remember what hand everyone is. Boston is a lefty, Yankees, Atlanta, Angels are righties. That is what I can remember, I have them written down at home.
I keep hearing this but I don't think that always happens. I have some more testing to do, though.
I just played a CPU game where my starters are 93 Ohtani, 90 Stroman, 83 Valenzuela, 84 Weaver, and 83 Kazmir and Kazmir is in my 5th position.
I played the Royals and they started their 3rd highest SP against me - 69 Brad Keller. They have 9 SP on the Live team and their #5 is 67 Jackson Kowar. Their lowest is 63 Angel Zerpa.
As I said, I have more testing to do to see the pattern of who they start.

I have no clue how it works. I had Fernando Velenzuela as my #5 starter and played the Cubs in conquest and the Cubs used Wade Miley as their starter. Well, that doesn't work out well for me at the moment cause I'm extremely left-handed heavy. So I switched Fernando to the #4 starter and booted up another conquest game against the Cubs and they still used Wade Miley.

It matches according to overall, not where you slot them. Also, IE will reorder the priority of the cpu rotation for LS cards as well as LS starters on your roster.

I'm pretty sure it's based on the difficulty you select. I once used the same starting pitcher (same rotation slot) in 2 straight games against the Angels and got different starting pitchers and the only difference was the difficulty I selected.

This is correct, it does not matter how you have them ordered, it goes by overall. You also need to look at parallels and dynamitic boosts. The lineup screen shows the true overall, so pick the starter with the lowest overall.
-
In typical SDS fashion, they completely removed the ability to see the handedness of the opposing pitcher instead of implementing the simple solution: lock in 1 of 2 default lineups (vs. LHP/RHP) during the pre-game loading screen based off the same 26 man roster.
I use an all switch hitting lineup to circumvent that b.s.

Conquest always matches up #1 vs. #1, #2 vs #2 and so on. It's based off of the order they are in when you select your pitcher, not the order they're in on your Team Management Screen. Play Vs. CPU always had them off set. In 2020 it went #5 (You) vs #1 (CPU), #4 vs. #5, #3 vs. #4 and so on. I think in 2021 they either reversed that order or bumped it down 2 Positions? I'm not 100% sure. But you also gotta remember after Roster Updates, those positions can change. And when you're dealing with teams that have multiple common SP's all around the same overall...it depends on who their actual starters are. Some of those guys are on the 40 man roster, but they may not be in the actual rotation. I'm sure some teams may have a 62 Wade Miley type as their #5 starter instead of some 63 or 64 no namer that has no MLB experience.
