Releasing a Program for the Cover Athlete cards less than a month after the game's release is one of the dirtiest moves I've ever experienced by a developer. These cards were sold as exclusives for the Digital Deluxe Edition buyers only. People, including myself, paid real money to obtain these cards along with the Takashi Okazaki series cards. You guys advertised these two sets as exclusives for those editions only. Making the cards available for free three weeks later is not exclusive. I am not opposed to this type of content being released for free 3-6 months into the game cycle so that those who paid you more for the game with real-world money get something in return. This is a digital spit in the face to loyal and/or new gamers that gave you more money for your development efforts than everyone else. I will continue to play The Show every year, however, I will NEVER buy a special edition again because it's only special for 3 weeks.
Players pay extra for the 4 days early release lets be honest here ....the cards are just extra
exactly mate - this is what OP doesn't understand - he paid early access aka to be a beta tester for a few days - paying for the privilege of playing the game 4 days early - this is a complete joke in itself - many of us saw this and stayed 20 feet back - just buy the base level game they don't deserve bonus money for a broken product
-
I bought Digital deluxe and I don’t even play DD fake outrage but typical with this community
-
No card is available only to those who pay for it. SDS doesn't operate that way. Also, any card released at launch is almost guaranteed to be obsolete in a month. Finally, I think a lot of people buy those editions more for early access than for "special" cards (though I might be wrong). That's why I did.

As someone that bought the digital deluxe, this is a horrible take. The more free cards SDS puts out, the better. I’m not going to complain about being able to get a 96 Mauer cheaper that’ll be irrelevant when his 99 is released anyways.
Yeah this is definitely ya horrible take...you paid "good money" to get one card that non-preorder guys had to use stubs for. So what. You got a free one and technically a head start on the collection. Im glad they are, especially since none of those cards will be relevant by June anyway (if not sooner)

yep. You are pre ordering for a jump start on gameplay and a few cards.....the others would have to buy the cards themselves whereas preorders hold on to 12-20k stubs for other use
-
Those of us who preordered still have the advantage of one extra card from the series so the benefit still holds true. All things being equal we’re at the exact same point as before. Not sure what there is to complain about. I went digital deluxe on all three systems so I’ve had Miggy, Tatis, and Ohtani from day one and I still see this as a total win.

The only preorder card I still use is one of the anime cards. Rickey, and i just use him off the bench for speed.

This stuff will only get worse. Haven't you noticed that the customer pays more than ever for less quality and worse customer service? This is happening everywhere except for Chic-fil-A and a few others. This sounds pessimistic but nobody cares anymore. Your only option is to boycott the companies that screw you as a customer. If you do that, you'll have lots of free time because it is everywhere.

Chick-fil-A's viral marketing team is getting really creative but I am absolutely here for it.

MOM!!! WHERE'S THE MEAT LOAF??? MAHHHH!!! MAHH!!!! MEATLOAF!!!!

OP, listen close because I don't have a lot of time. This is really important....no matter what you do....you must never repeat this to another living soul.
-
When and where did they announce this? This is literally the first I've seen about it.
-
Let's be honest, if you got the special edition with early access, these 88 overall cards aren't even in your lineup anymore or close to being passed up by better cards and not used anymore. If they don't release them now, then when? The casual person can actually use these cards at this period in the game.
-
If you have any sort of a team, these cards are being passed up quick. I just sold Ohtani who was so so as a pitcher. Im keeping Randy, but he is down to my number 4 or 5 starter. The best cards of cover athletes are Tatis and Baez, but again with FOTF, there are better options. You had to figure they would make these cards available because you need them all for the set.

Meatloaf now! I want it!

No complaints here. My pre-order mid 80’s Maur card carried me through US Conquest map twice so I could get Adley on the cheap. Along the way I got some other great cards to bolster the squad. With the exception of maybe Ohtani for garbage time, none of these players get a spot on my roster now.

Sorry, I’m not done mocking you yet.
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Looks like a full 2k program. Not sure why anyone would be in support of needing to use cards in the pack you are hoping to earn before you earn it. Needing to use ALL of them is just a joke. The same reason I played NBA my team for about a day and went back to career mode.

The mission as use the live series or cover version!
