I'm curious what you think about today's content drop...
What do like or dislike, or would change? I'm not drunk yet because of the duplicate TA5 selections and nobody has mentioned Diaz today so I thought I'd ask before I become incoherent.
What I like:
-
Griffey and Foxx are big Ws.
-
Each division is 300 points so it'll last more than a few days
-
3 new conquest maps. I know that's standard but I like these TA maps with 10 teams and lots of points attached.
-
The two secret packs and their monumental effect on the market and most of all, the actual cards in both the packs and the program are rad.
The only thing I'd change: I miss henchmen. I realize at this stage they'd be pointless but the more collectibles and players, the merrier. All in all we have soooooo many new cards that could make a God squad and the card art as the kids say is . I'm sorry.
Today was a big W for me, I just hope I don't pick Tatis twice.
DRINK!!!!!!

It's not an L per say, but I was expecting the Finest secret packs to be in the 200-300 range of each TA path. I know we'll be littered with them eventually in upcoming innings/conquest maps/event rewards/etc, but it would have been nice to see a pack or two on the horizon.
-
I would say big W. Hoping to have a Griffey by the end of the weekend and Jimmy Foxx absolutely hates baseballs as usual! As a Mets fan I wish Stroman H/9 were a little higher but even where he is at now he's juiced so I get it.
-
On content its W. But like in the past some players don't play upto there stats.

I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing, I don't hear people complain about the cards that play above their stats. It creates fan favorite cards that people get excited for every year. No one would care about Jeimer Canderlario getting dropped, but people remember his great swing from previous versions and want him.
-
In anticipation for TA5 over the last month I’ll be honest. I’ve just lost interest. I don’t know if I’ll grind or not. I liked having something to look forward to. But when I get these new cards what do I do with my old favorites. I won’t be able to play too much with these new cards. It’s a lot of content very late. I’m close to burned out. That doesn’t mean you guys and gals shouldn’t enjoy.
It’s a W for anyone that is still excited and plans on prolonging their time with this game.
-
I needed some Henchmen for the collection as I'm at least 10-13 cards short for a lot of vouchers. Looks like no Griffey for me, but I say W.
-
For people that started Day 1: Win
For people that started within the last month or two: Loss
By the time I get enough cards for Griffey it's with going to cost me time or stubs.
-
I don't have much of an opinion as I don't play as much any more, but I question the distribution of finest cards. Brewers getting 4 cards seems extreme when there are teams with only one 99 overall card for the entire year who only get one.
Maybe I am salty because I feel like SDS kind of ignored Wainwright's accomplishments all of this year. His signature series is only a 96. Every pitcher who received votes in the NL CY Young voting this year has better cards than Wainwright's signature card. I actually think Gausman is the only other one without a 99 overall (and he has a 98). Wainwright was the best pitcher in Aug but they released his Sig card (again a 96) and gave Ray the 99 overall POTM.
Even with that said I would be fine with Wainwright not getting one if they had distributed them better. I see teams getting 4 and several getting 3 and have to wonder why they were not better distributed. The should have added a third pack with 10 more finest and just chosen 2 from each team, preferably one batter and one pitcher.

Burnes and Woodruff are auto includes for Finest. CY winner and 5th place in voting. Adames was the Brewers MVP since the trade. They won the division and all 3 of those guys were deserving of recognition. Garcia is the only one who is questionable IMO, but he still led the team in HRs and RBI.
Wainwright had the worst WAR, ERA, and WHIP of the 9 that received CY votes. He already had a Sig Series card, so he wasnt going to get an upgrade over that.
-
I put down the game for about a month and that’s really going to set me back in terms of time for acquiring Griffey. I will say though after playing NHL 22 HUT, SDS is a god send in terms of ultimate team modes.

I am not detracting from anything those Brewers players did but I feel like teams, like the Rays or the Marlins, who are sadly lacking high end cards would have benefitted from a second one. The cards are pure fiction anyway so what's the harm?
I also said I had no problem with Wainwright not getting one and am fine with the Cardinals only having one, but you won't convince me that one team, regardless of the team, should get 4 or even 3. I would be saying the same thing if it had been the Cardinals getting 4 Finest cards.

Yeah, the few teams like Astros, Brewers and Mets that got 3 to 4 are a little uneven. Yesterday I was using a Pirates pitcher to complete a daily mission and there is only 1 diamond pitcher in the game. FS Quin Priester. I know they are garbage now a days and don't have a history of great pitching but they have only 1!!! They could have spread the wealth a bit.

Content is good. As a first year XBox player, it's been very fun, and quite the breath of fresh air from the abomination that is 2k.
I do think they should have put a set reward for completing all of the Team Affinity's, as well as the POTM. I was under the impression that both would have a lock in at the end, otherwise I would've never grinded all of that [censored] out, even though they obviously give you a lot of cards for collections.
Which brings me to my last point. I really wish they would've given Junior some sick [censored] card art. With the amount of stubs and time that goes into the end game collection, it should be the sickest looking card out there. Instead they give it the awful blank slate of the Milestone set, which is by far my least favorite of the year. Just a blank background with writing. Who thinks of this [censored]? Card art needs some serious improvements next year.

I think it's what I mentioned above and the fact that teams like the Mets and Brewers were lacking in flashback/legend diamond cards compared to some other franchises.

How there isn't a 85 overall Vet AJ Burnett for the Buckos yet is a crime

Making Griffey Jr a collection reward is a huge fail to me.

What would have been a better option? Boss card which he has been the prior 2 years. WS or BR reward cause I'm sure that would have gone over so well.
This makes the most sense the most wanted player card is the final big collection so if you have been playing all year and collecting cards and doing all the programs you should either have home or be really close. It rewards the full time players but isn't out of reach for those joing now

I play everyday since launch, I am nowhere near the card. I do have one voucher. Plus, I haven’t been able to use a lot of the players I wanted because I was saving my stubs for him. Never thought they would do it. But, oh well. I just was answer a question with my opinion.
