I'd gladly invest my 300k elsewhere than Mays.....great attributes but i havent seen anyone able to hit with him including myself.

Im sticking with him. Right now I cant get him to hit it in the air. A lot of linedrives, and some grounders, reminds me of Jackie. I was terrible with Betts for the first month I had him but now I cant take him out of my lineup. Im not saying Mays swing is not broke but Im wondering with enough practice I can make it work. Of course when a new Trout and Griffey come out there will be no place for Mays in my lineup.

It’s sad that his card has fallen off in the past 2 games. He is a must defensively but it’s so hard to turn on pitches unless you just commit to being early

I think you have to treat him as if he had a severe closed stance and never miss anything low and outside. He'll destroy it.
Now I've played offline and some games were on Veteran to get easier Parallel stats, but he's been obscene.
27 for 43 (.623), 1 double 2 triples, 20 runs, 11 homers, 16 rbi, 6 steals. 3 homers were oppo no doubters. That says it all about his swing. He's also defensive wizard somewhat. He made a catch for me yesterday that was close to his iconic catch. It was incredible.
If I played RS and faced him, I'd pitch him high and inside for sure.

I for one love him. I like how he leans forward a bit and constantly re-grips the bat, like he's super amped up and just can't wait to rip a ball 500 feet. He was possibly my best hitter in 19 when he was a collection reward, but do be advised that it took me a fair few ABs to get him going back then. I haven't used him a ton yet here in 21, but I'll be shocked if he isn't similarly good. I've already wrecked several low pitches, both off-speed and hard stuff, by pulling it straight to the moon. That seems to be the sweet spot, low stuff that you can pull and elevate.

Overall his numbers for me are not amazing yet, I will admit. But he hasn't been a liability either like some cards turn out to be. Lookin at you, my-favorite-IRL-player-of-all-time that I can't use because I hit .043 with him, Troy Glaus.

Like Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, I have full confidence that Willie Mays has a gigantic breakout ready to happen at any moment, for me, for you, and for all.

Mays stroked the ball when he first came out in 19. They changed the timing windows in last years game and carried it over to this year. This is why there are several great legends that are unusable hitting wise. That’s my take anyway

It has nothing to do with timing windows, it's the hit speed n timing of your swing of when the bat comes into contact with the ball.

Maybe you're right but there are at least three more people besides myself that say he hit way better in 19. The only thing different since then is that the timing windows were changed in 20 and they pretty much stayed the same this year. Your explanation of hit speed and timing of your swing when the bat comes into contact with the ball is more real life than a video game. But if that's what you think, I respect your opinion.

Thank u, I just know when I look at the swing feedback n say why is that not a hit, it's cause my bat speed was below 94, most likely a hard lineoutπŸ˜”

I struggled with him at first. He’s coming around for me but he still barely hits home runs and when he does they’re opposite field. He does hit a bunch of singles and doubles up the middle for me now. Overall I still think he’s underwhelming.

Had him for a while now, and I don't get it, because he sucks. He's more than 100 points below all my other hitters, and in fact, I have three regular starting pitchers with a higher batting average than him.

I cant hit with him to save my life, only used him for about 50 at bats, and im batting .167 with 2 HRs

I suck with almost every old timer, their swings are so slow and they all have similar, if not the same stance
