These extra stat metrics are what is ruining the game. Always get the same argument.
Take a guy like Gallo, this dude SHOULD NOT be playing in the majors. I could care less about OBP, if there is a runner on 2nd two outs and u need a hit, a walk does nothing.
Here’s an example of someone that doesn’t understand how hitters bring value in different ways. Gallo had a 123 wRC+ this year. That means he was 23% better than the league-average. That’s better than Tim Anderson, Jake Cronenworth, Nolan Arenado, Adam Frazier, and many more. Being able to compare two totally different types of players with extremely different offensive skillsets and determine which one is truly more productive using advanced metrics has made the game so much better. Having a .300+ AVG doesn’t necessarily mean that person is a better offensive player than the guy with a .200 AVG that hits for power and walks.
I am sure u could find a category for any player now and say he is good at something.
Let me ask u, let's take my earlier example.
If there was a runner on 1st and 2nd, two outs and Gallo is up (let's say Barry bonds is on deck) would u want Gallo up to bat?
I’d take Gallo’s 123 wRC+ in that situation over someone with a lower wRC+, that’s for sure. Obviously I’d be more than happy to have someone with a higher wRC+ instead, but that’s out of my control. It’s really that simple lmao. A .300 AVG hitter with the same or lower wRC+ is just as likely or more likely to create an out in that situation as Joey Gallo is.

Huh? So now you argument to trash Gallo is to compare him to Barry Bonds? Bottomline it's silly to complain about a guy walking with 2 outs and a runner on 2nd. Walks are never a bad thing.
-
No, im not comparing the two. I am simply stating that I would rather face Gallo because he strikes out 3 out of 4 times a game. And if he walks? Good luck against bonds

I'm not sure it needed to be stated, find me one person who would argue they want Gallo up instead of Bonds
Also, he strikes out about 1.4 times a game if we round up.

I'm a Ranger fan, love the person Gallo but when he was traded I was bummed for the person go...not the strike outs.
Sorry, when you are constantly reaching 180-200 strike outs you are a detriment to the overall team offense. Just my opinion, never liked striking out becoming so acceptable. -

Carter deserves the first 100 rated card in show history, prove me wrong

.296 CAREER BA. How many batters do you think hit .296 or higher this season alone?

The answer: only 17

I still cant believe that there are people out there that think drawing walks are a bad thing.

And there are people out there that think having 200 strikeouts and hitting below .200 is a good thing

I'm positive that is incorrect.

Good players that are useful to the team can have bad qualities to. You are attempting to argue in a way that makes it seem like you win, when no one was arguing that in the first place.

The drop of SR means Jr is coming
-
Hey bud, the release of Senior always means 99 Jr. is around the corner. First year playing?
-
Ok, sure. You betcha. But he shares a name with a Hall-of-Famer (with a different suffix). So do the 20 minutes of moments, and the 45-minute All-Star-level game, get the XP and stop whining.

Ken Griffey Sr. Career Stats:
BA- .296
Hits- 2143
HR's- 152
RBI- 859
3x All-StarI saw Sr. play.
He was not even remotely special.
His greatest career accomplishment was siring Jr.A nice player who hit in a lineup with Rose, Morgan, Bench, and Foster.
This is super lame, SDS.
The guy was a Gold caliber player on his best day.
I would rather no content than cut and paste filler content. What are your career major league baseball stats? Just curious.
That's all you got, friend?
We're debating the merits of Griffey Sr and your contribution to the discussion is what were my MLB stats?Christopher Hitchens you are not.

Yep. Lol. You're sitting here saying a mlb player is not worthy of a sig card or whatever you're argument is. So, I'm asking you what your mlb stats were? Could you do better? Your argument is you diminishing a quality major league baseball players stats. You have zero idea what it takes to play at that level, you most likley played jv baseball for your high school and that was the end of your career. Sitting on here acting like Griffey sr did nothing in his career. Sit down son

If your definition of quality is 8 HR's and 50 RBI/yr for a middle of the batting order player, then your standards are quite low... Son.
Again, what does my career have to do with anything?
This is referred to as "deflecting"-- taking attention away from the actual subject and somehow making it about an unrelated topic.I blew my shoulder out in college.
You win. I stink compared to Ken Griffey Sr.
You debated well... Son. Haha!
