About K's and foul balls, I'd be fine with fewer fouls if they banned the outlier perk. THAT is the real thing that's ruining the game.
I think outlier is fine, as long as they don't give it to any random players. Degrom deserves it, but why would they give it to Justin Verlander.
Didn't watch Verlander when he was with Detroit huh? No, he didn't throw 102 every pitch. With how it currently works works the only 3 pitchers that actually deserve outlier are Degrom, Nolan Ryan, and Chapman. But saying they randomly gave it to Verlander of all people is a bit strange
Come on brotha, you know Clase deserves it! You should know that being a tigers fan
I agree, I was just naming the diamond cards. Clase and Jordan Hicks deserve it too for sure
Feller?
I mean its really hard to say with the guys that played pre-radar gun. Feller, Grove, and Walter are more or less based on people saying they threw that hard
-
Don't worry, guys. I'm sure SDS is hard at work making dramatic changes to the most important part of their game's functionality, because that's totally something developers do after achieving one of their best sales years ever. An overhaul could be a risky strategy, but I'm sure the community will be positive and openminded about any major change as they always are. lol
-
They should keep it in the game, just not make it visible. Also, remove button hitting and this game would be nice. Offline modes use what ever you want.

Verlander absolutely deserves outlier. What made him so good was how he ramped up in the later innings. He would start out in the mid to upper 90's, and by inning 7 he was throwing over 100.

While I agree on the Big Train and Lefty, Feller at least had some tests done on his velocity. I know Johnson did as well, but it wasnt exactly accurate using modern techniques. Feller at minimum threw 98+ mph given the testing at the time, although most believe it was over 100. That's why I think he deserves to be categorized differently than the other 2 mentioned, and alongside the other known fireballers.
I would also put Dibble and Nen in the outlier category. 2 guys that would routinely get up over 100.

Also, giving a random prospect an outlier sinker nearly ruined the game for non-WS-level players for a good part of the year.
This is a good point. I got so sick of facing Cabrera I definitely slowed down my play this year. Thankfully with the new TA program you’re stating to see more variety. I’m still not sure why every pitcher needs to throw 102 though? The meta this year is bizarre.

The outlier sinker isn't why Cabrera was good. Its because his release is glitched. I don't see many people talking about how OP Walter Johnson, Zack Britton, Gregory Soto and Alex Reyes are, and they all have outlier sinkers
I quit playing for a solid month when Cabrera came out. It was ridiculous!

They need to let people just strike out and miss the dang ball.
They do, I strike out probably a 10 or more times a game.

I truly think the pci system needs an overhaul. Wayyyy too many games decided by non pci hits/homeruns and that just shouldn't happen. The pci absolutely needs to represent the barrel and there shouldn't be a outer pci for vision either. Playing good players on HOF is still a foul ball fest and it just gets real frustrating with the undeserved hits
Ya lets make scoring even harder. Maybe we can have 1-0 games go 15 innings?
-
I think the problem is with how hitting works in this game. Outlier probably had to be invented to accommodate pitchers (like most of the ones mentioned) that threw harder than the game was designed to allow.
They had to do something to make fastballs actually relevant in a baseball game because, if you remember, there was a time when they were not.
I keep hoping SDS will remember this is a video game and not real life, and make it about fun gameplay and not semi-accurate to MLB stats, but I might be waiting a long time for that.
-
i thought they just made the PCI more sensitive in the last update, or reactive....its kinda shitty cause i went from getting better to starting over. way to change at the end of the year.

It’s already way too easy to score. I don’t know what you’re talking about

Not everyone wants an arcade "video game" like you want. I want this game to be even more realistic as do many others.

I don’t think it’s exactly like that. They extended the PCI range which I think means the same movement you did before actually goes a little further. They didn’t make the PCI more sensitive per say but by changing it’s range, it kinda did it on its own

It said in the notes that sensitivity was boosted. And it’s pretty noticeable. A few content creators have made videos about it

Yeah and I stand by my statement. The sensitivity was boosted to compensate for the PCI extending further. Meaning the same movement you did before will reach further because it has farther to travel

No bro it stated specifically that pci sensitivity was changed. It moves quicker than pre update. Go look at the notes and tulowrys video about it

My 2 cents may not count for much, especially since this is really only my second full year playing DD but, personally I find PCI to be bush league. Prior to this week I'd been playing last year and this year on broadcast view with pure analog for hitting and pitching with no visible strike zone. I enjoyed that option as it gave me the feel of watching an MLB game on TV. However after feeling my frustrations mount with each borderline pitch my opponent seemed to know wasn't worth swinging at and getting hammered in the respective games I decided to check out a couple of Twitch streamers to confirm that my adversaries weren't cheating but had more than likely been using PCI.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man but PCI leaves me with the impression that you can hit just about any and every pitch thrown at you which IMO doesn't offer me the sim experience I like, nevermind a truly competitive game between me and my opponent but in order for me to be remotely close to competitive my view for hitting is now set for Strike Zone 2, but I'm still not using PCI.

Let me ask you this since you want a sim experience. If you go out IRL, do you just swing blindly at the ball or do you track it and adjust your swing plane according to where the ball is? That’s what the PCI means to most everybody

I completely get this and agree. I use PCI though because there just isn't a other good option. PCI for me is not anything like swinging a bat. I am sure it is just me personally, but using one hand to line up the PCI and another to swing is not anything similar to hitting. To me it is more like the old game where you try and rub your stomach while you tap your head.
