I’m new to the forum and this is my first year playing the Show… I’m totally hooked and love DD…
But why is there no DH??
Because DH isn’t real baseball?
If you use that theory, neither are the playoffs, inter-league play, and probably many other things that are part of the game. DH will become universal.
I was joking. I’ve wondered why the game hasn’t used it.

I also think there should be a RHP and LHP lineups that set when a P appears
Horrible idea. You can make your team have the matchup advantage every game. You can also exploit it by using an opener one hand, and then switching to an opposite handed starter.

Hitting with your pitcher is like kissing your cousin. Ain’t nobody want that.
Unless it’s Ruth or Ohtani
I remember being at a.phillies playoff game and Brett Myers had like a 15 pitch at bat the place was going crazy. When pitchers do something at the plate it's exciting.
-
Yes it’s been discussed and the reason is simple: with a DH, your bench becomes obsolete. Also, it forces you to balance between keeping a got pitcher in the game or trying to get an important run

It’s all good. I know there really are a lot of people that say DH isn’t real baseball, or even “my team’s pitchers can hit.” I don’t think those teams would use those pitchers as the DH if/when it is an option.

Exactly this. It’s about selling stubs. With no DH you need to have a full bench and bullpen. If there was a DH you would only need one bat and you could let deGrom or Ryan (or whoever else) throw all 9.

I hit well with Baumgartner and Hernandez so I will miss hitting with them if this happens.
They should allow you to use pitchers as a DH. It happens in real MLB now in the AL. Ohtani wouldn’t be able to hit every game if he were in the NL now.

I’m sure you hit “well” with them but could be hitting “great” with a DH

How does the bench become obsolete? Wouldn’t you still need a lefty and righty bat to counter pitching matchups, a speedster and maybe a backup catcher?
-
I'd 100% rather have a universal DH, in this game and real life. Give me that extra slot for a card that I actually want to hit with, it would give us so many more options to build a lineup. Watching the pitcher hit in real life is painful. Let a real hitter hit.

With the right DH, no. There are enough players that hit well against both. Given a DH, you wouldn’t worry about PH thus leaving your catcher in. Speedsters are dime a dozen if you’re looking to grab a bag.

99/100 times a pitchers at bat is boring move on… Teams don’t pay pitchers to hit

Why not make it like foot ball have nine dhs and nine defender's

At this point the fact we still don't have the universal DH rule is ridiculous. It's time.

Ideally we should have 4 locked, default lineups based on the same 26 man roster and the option to play by AL rules as the home team
2 separate DH-less lineups vs RHP or LHP
2 versions of those two that include a DH

U could have a common bench to bring down your rating mod also

Only alternative is to have player stamina -
In real life baseball I think having the pitcher bat is the dumbest thing ever. In this game though I think it's a necessary evil, because with a DH most players wouldn't even use their bench and the whining about cards that aren't good enough for a god squad would get even louder with fewer meaningful roster spots to fill.
There seems to be a fair amount of people on both sides of the argument though, so I have a compromise idea. When you create your team they could give you the option of designating it as AL or NL, and all games where you're the home team would then be played according to the rules of whatever league you choose.

The bullpen would NEVER be obsolete! As for the bench, I would always have a good bench for a late game match up situation.

The option to use a DH and not seeing lineups ahead of time takes away some strategy.. I really enjoy the show because of the realistic strategy.. just as managers of MLB teams set their lineups based on the pitcher (R/L matchups, individual success rates, or capitalizing on hot streaks) I want to do the same…
I hear you.. but it’ll never happen again. You would understand if you played in 2019. Kershaw was a very good pitcher and whenever you seen a lefty pitching, you knew there was a very good chance that’s who you were facing.. so people would back out all the time. It’s fine where it’s at now.
