Why can you still go back when you attempt a steal?

Title says it all.

Why couldn't you go back?

No one stops mid steal, turns around, and goes back to 1st base in baseball. It's an exploit.
-
Is there a rule against doing it?

Only a person that goes back after stealing would say this. Y do want that in the game?

Correct
-
can you cancel a steal command? if so how?
-
In RTTS mode,
- Press R2 to stop (sometimes, a single gentle press doesn't work; you have to tap R2 rapidly for several times).
- Get back to 1st base. If you're already half way to 2B, try to lure catcher to throw to 2B. Run to 2B from standing still, Stop, then return to 1B.

Is that right Mr. [censored]? It's an actual question. I wanted to know if there is an actual rule. No need to be a [censored] face.

Really? A baserunner has never started towards second, stopped and went back to first? Not in the history of baseball?
-
The runner only trips if it was a pitch out.

Are you serious? Has it ever happened? Maybe, especially when a guy is trying to get into a pickle for strategy purposes. However, 99.9% of the time a steal is what we call a "straight steal" because stealing a base at the MLB level is so difficult that teams time pitchers to the plate and consider catcher pop times when deciding whether to try it. To put it another way, the runner has to go full bore and doesn't generally have the ability to even consider whether he's going to be safe or out when stealing a base. In this game, guys decide when they're 2/3 of the way to 2nd and then stop dead in their tracks and turn around. Add in the broken throw and tag animations in run downs and you have a joke of a dynamic.
-
If a guy running full bore to second base tried to stop it would take 10 feet and enough time that the 2b/SS could just walk over and tag him out.
It doesnt happen the way it does in this game.
-
I didn’t realize it was a. Issue this year... my dudes take 5 seconds to go back to 2nd or 3rd if they make the turn, seems like the stealing would be the same
