I see people continue to clamor for Jeter, and I just don't get it. Is it just because he was able to win many championships? In MLBTS he would just be essentially Rod Carew... a contact hitter with below average power, defense and speed. Again, I'm not trying to offend anyone, I just don't get why everyone wants him when there would be more fun options to use in game as new legends because their card stats would be better, like say, Adrian Beltre.

Thanks to the Yankees early dominance on the field (and later dominance in the ratings), Jeter was for better or worse "The Face of MLB". Thus everyone who grew up a baseball fan in that era had The Captain forced down their throats.

It’s all about nostalgia. He wouldn’t translate well into the game. I don’t see anyone other than Yankees’ fans using him.

I personally don't care for a Jeter card. There's numerous better options that would outplay a Jeter card IMO.

You’d get a player with decent contact and bronze fielding if it’s an honest card. No offense to anyone, but Jeter was a mediocre shortstop. He was a great team captain and a great Yankee. I watched Jeter his whole career. My comments are based on eye test.

I think we have to remember that this game isnt just about the meta or having the best squad. ALOT of people play this game to use their favorite players offline and Jeter is alot of people favorite player
So is he want from a competitive position no but from a fan of the game he is a must at some point.
Remember at all of our cores the reason we play this game is because we are fans of baseball and the history of this game before we are online competitors

A sig series Jeter could be playable and would basically be a SS Trevor Story with more contact, but silver fielding and worse speed.

I would say he would be closer to Molitor, and we all know how many people like using his cards. Their offensive numbers are pretty similar including the exact same career OPS.

This is well said, and I think gets at the heart of the matter for many... for those who want to run the best cards out to give themselves the best chance of winning an online game, Jeter may not provide the roster advantage they're looking for. For those who grew up loving the Yankees and him in particular, just the chance to run him out there makes the game better by leaps and bounds.
Give me a Mark Kotsay to run out in center field and I'll play him every game, even though he isn't going to out-hit the other options. I have to like my players to enjoy the game. Winning or losing ranks well below that.
