On the way to WS
-
So, I'm not going to lie, this is a bit of a humble brag, but I made WS a couple nights ago for the first time ever. I've played MLB since 09 at least, but started DD back in 16. Highest I ever made was in the 880's back in 19 and I never went above 730 last year. I am not a great hitter by any stretch but pitching would keep me in games. I'll also say, I rarely play enough games in a season to really have a shot at 900 unless I go on an incredible run, which happened this time.
My record in RS coming into this season was 20-2, but I hadn't played a single game over 700. I've played when I could between my league and all the other offline content and events, to just get by. I started the season at 550 and said I was going for it. My record the season ended up being 14-1 with some absolutely awful hitting stats; .175 avg, .349 slg, .199 obp and I probably averaged 2-3 runs a game with a couple 1-0 shutouts mixed in. Pitching and fielding carried me with a 1.30 era, .56 whip and .998 fldg. I probably won one game that felt like total luck in extra innings, but for the most part I got a lead and kept it every game.
This season though I was able to get a PS5 and I think it completely changed the game. After going to the PS5 and then playing on the PS4 offline, the game is almost unplayable with how awful the frame rate is. When you never play it on the PS5, you'd never notice it, but once you do, it's really crazy. For everyone wondering why things feel so bad at times, I really think it comes down to the hardware not being able to support the software. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I got lucky for once. Maybe SDS rolled the magical dice in my favor, but I think it's really the difference in the frame rate ability of the PS5 vs the PS4.
Good luck to everyone grinding out RS to make WS. Now that I've done it, I may retire from the mode and never play it again. Finishing with a 34-3 record overall and a 14-1 run feels pretty good.

Congrats my man cheers to the old men in WS!

Following on my previous thread — we should start a league for all the old timers. Cutoff age what 35?

Awesome job, old man!
I'm 47 and hopefully right behind you (at 740 right now)
And I would be totally in on an over 40 league.
It's only a video game, but the competitive juices are still there! -

Congrats. Every season I cruise till I get to my WS game, and then just spiral. I know I’m absolutely good enough, otherwise I wouldn’t consistently get to playing a win and I’m in game. It’s just so defeating to get so close every ranked season year after year, and then to keep stumbling.

Also just turned 40, so count me in lol.

I think I’m the greatest over 35 player on the show old man league future MVP

Sounds like you tense up for that game.
Pretend it's a vs. CPU game facing a God Squad that you can't make any mistakes against.
You should cruise from there. Haha! -

35?!
I don't know, whipper snapper.
Do you even shave yet?!Plus it's a slow pitch league with a Jamie Moyer fastball maximum. Haha!

I got pretty good at the atari 2600 baseball game, but this online play is tuff stuff for me

Glad to see I'm not alone in finally making WS. It's crazy, I literally have no desire to play RS anymore. I'll most likely stick to events, BR, and league games at this point. For those of you who keep going for WS season after season, what's the reasoning? There's no real reward other than the new cards, which can be easily purchased by flipping cards.
