Monitor vs tv?
-
I played on same tv every year and win 95% of my games a year and I've seen this monitor debate the last few years. But honestly I have no idea why a monitor would be different maybe some 1 can explain it to me.. maybe I'd win 98% of the games.. I do have 5 disconnected games this year is that my tv?

I'd say use your money for something useful for your family and in these times if you got a extra 200$ or any $ your willing to spend on a monitor maybe try a donation to help with medical supplies locally or a gift to some 1 you know who has maybe lost there job and could really use that money to eat. That will make you feel better than any Win you might gain on a new monitor. By all means tho it's your money its American spend it how you see is fit!

TV’s have more input lag then monitors meaning that it takes longer for your player to react on screen after you push the button on your controller. Newer tv’s have closed the gap in the specs department. Not sure if your 95% winning percentage comes from online or offline play but a monitor is most useful for online play. And no the disconnects have nothing to do with your tv.

My take is this. If you’re a good player on a tv, you turn into an elite player on a monitor. I could be wrong but I play on a tv and feel like a monitor would make me 50x the player I am now

Maybe yes and maybe no. As I said many new tv’s have very similar specs as a monitor so you don’t need to go that route these days to get great performance.

You're all full of bullcrap, a monitor is a million times better than what any TV can do. I have two PS4, one in the basement attached to a 4K 60 inch and one in my room attached to a gaming 32" 4K LG monitor and the monitor is light years ahead of that TV even at game mode on or whatever TVs try to make it lag free. On the TV I play like an online noob striking out and hoping for homeruns but on the monitor I have a better sense of speed of the pitch and I can concentrate and play baseball.

Good for you skippy

I think the tv lag is from displaying the image itself and not necessarily from pushing the buttons. The button pushing, however, has its own delay. With the tv lag, though, the game is occurring in real time on the PS4, but then it takes what ever your tv’s lag is for you to see the image. So, whenever the pitcher starts his windup, you’re already behind.

You think input lag is a placebo effect? Ever hear the word clueless?

Easy bro. I have a monitor and several 4 K TVs. Many high end TVs have just as good, if not better, specs than a monitor. And trust me, you wouldn’t be acting like a tough guy and calling people clueless if you were standing in front of me.

Many high end TVs do have an input lag just as good as monitors. But that’s the problem. It’s possible that you need a monitor or a high end tv to have a modicum of success in this game. I have heard of the placebo effect, and it is possible that people are chalking up every time they’re not successful to input lag. But if your tv has a 40ms input lag, you are at a disadvantage at making quality contact in an already shrunken timing window. It would be nice to hear from the developers to know how much input lag they have allotted when programming their timing windows and pitch speeds.

Completely clueless.

As someone who’s been playing this game for 10 years - IMO you don’t need a monitor if your tv has a game mode. Make sure to go into advanced settings for any reduced lag options as well.

I got one word for you guys.....T.L.C. tvs.....the most perfect tv/monitor like tv today. I have no problem with lag. Check out the specs guys on the webb

TV's are just old fashion screens...I mean they are still in 16:9 format. They should catch up and produce them in 21:9/Ultrawide, I can't stomach playing a game in 16:9 but I have no choice with The Show. I really hope the PS5 supports Ultrawide or at least have SDS release the game on PC in 2021.

Are you able to comment on the amount of input lag developers put into consideration when programming timing windows and pitch speeds?

Go to Walmart buy one. Take it home for a week decide for yourself. If you dont feel its worth it take it back.
