Shohei Ohtani is unreal!

Let's take some time and talk about how amazing this guy is. I have watched more Angels games this year than any prior year combined. Of course from time to time I would throw one on to watch Trout take some hacks or marvel at his abilities in the field but this is completely different. I find myself completely invested in watching Shohei do everything.
Everyone knows that he is leading the league in homeruns but he is also leading in XBH (71) and ISO. He is top 8 in stolen bags with 20, he has a long shot at being the first player to finish with a 50-30 season. A-Rod currently holds the record for most stolen bases in a 50-homerun season at 54/24, which is also obtainable.
As of today, the Angels have 31 games remaining and Ohtani is averaging just a tick over 3.5 at bats per game. Based on the fact that he has played 125 of the Angels 131 games this year, we can assume he will miss 1-2 games in the remaining 31. That puts him at roughly 102 more at bats for the season. He is averaging a homerun every 10.73 ABs and a SB every 22 ABs. If he stays consistent with that, that is 10 (9.506) more homers and 5 (4.636) more SB for a total of 51/25.
Unfortunately the Angels snagging a WC spot is unlikely (10.5 games back) and that may drastically hurt his chances. If they can get hot though, this is going to be a fun situation to monitor!

I am not an Angels fan fwiw.

Quite possibly one of the most talented players ever. Would love to see a healthy angels team with some more quality arms

Honestly I wish he played for a team closer to the east coast. Why do the Angels always waste the prime years of the best players!

I don't follow the angels that closely so maybe there's a logical explanation, but it's just baffling to me that they have trout and ohtani on the same team but somehow still suck.

Baseball takes more then 2 players, The Angels pitching has always been the problem they have some tragic situations happen.

I'm a little over the hype and constant "OMG he's the best ever hyperbole". He's been pretty pedestrian in the second half. He's got a 7.8 BRef WAR but that's due to his pitching. He's basically been CJ Cron since the AS game. He's having a great season and he'll probably be the MVP but there's clearly been much better seasons in the history of the game. You wouldn't know that if you were born yesterday and only ever heard of Ohtani.

He’s the best baseball player ever IMO
Not the best hitter
Not the best pitcher -
He’s the literal player as a kid you’d want to be and pretend to be as a 8 year old playing
Ace starter
Hits bombsShame he’s never going to win anything with the Angels though.
You do sense he will end up at somewhere like Dodgers or NYY

Cover athlete for next year.

I'm not an Angels fan...In fact, I am a proud NL homer and AL pitchers can go get their pedicures done so they don't mess them up hitting....with that said even though he is AL. I still respect his game big time. As someone stated above, he isn't the best pitcher we have seen, he isn't the best hitter we have ever seen. He might just be the best combo player we have ever seen though. I don't agree that he is the best baseball player though. I think he will go down top 100 ever and might even crack top 25.

I agree, it will come down to his longevity. If he only does this for a few more years, then he is a... Remember that Ohtani guy 10 years ago?

You're tripping dude. Nobody as done what Ohtani has done. I don't want to hear about Babe Ruth and a league with no black players or latinos.
Do you think Babe could make a MLB roster today? I don't think so. Not with that dickey-do of his.
-
I mean Ruth played in a different era yes but he was good regardless of era.
But tbh Shohei is probably one of my 2 favorites in the league besides Vlad(because I'm Canadian and love the Jays) and Shohei is my other favorite because he can hit and pitch which isn't normal for a pitcher usually.

Let's all agree Bo Jackson was the best athlete in baseball history.

Disagree. I’d go with either Bartolo, Prince, or Dmitri Young.

No.
I personally don't care about the "best" athlete, so many guys are so athletic and skilled at so many things.

I'm a Prime Time guy. Bo was a beast for sure, but Deion has my heart.
We need a 1992 Deion Sanders Card

He led the league in triples and played less than 100 games due to leaving for football season. Also hit just over .300.
