Anyone run Chipper at SS?

I'm a pretty big Miggy fan and want to run him at 3B (since there are so many good 1B options - I start Ortiz and have HRD Prince on the bench). But I already have Chipper and have him up to P4. Was thinking about moving Chipper to SS and Trae Turner to 2B. Moving Wander to the bench - a nice 5 tool bench player would be nice on the bench.

Was debating that as well. I think once I get him to P5 I'll move him to the bench.

Whomdo you run at third?
I alternate a lot of players to try and parallel them up, so right now its Sig Justin Turner, but normally its hardware Bryant or Brooks. Sig Turner is surprisingly good in the field though and great swing so he might stay for a bit.

Imo yes. For me at least. I struggle way more with hitting than pitching. My pitching carries me. 3B Miggy, SS Chipper and 2B Trae Turner > Franco pluggin in there (offense wise). Turner is literally unreal.

Unless its not FS Franco Chipper to the bench, I don’t use Trae Turner so I can’t speak on him but if I had to move any of those guys it would be Chipper or Turner. Miggy is great at 1B, I know there’s a ton of options there but I run him there right now over ASG Olson,Ortiz and HRD Fielder

I used to run Chipperbat third and thought all was great, but the more I have played I have realized that defense shows itself in subtle ways. Someone like Chipper doesn't really make errors at short, but he will not get to near as many balls as a stronger defensive player.

Yeah, the more I think about it I think the move might be playing Wander at SS and putting Chipper on the bench.

I’ve seen a few of my opponents run him at short and he seemed fine. The 74 speed and his height make up for the deficiencies in fielding and reaction I’m assuming. 81 arm is good enough too.
I always want to load my lineup with defensive studs, but then I realize it doesn’t really matter as long as they are just good enough defensively. In my opinion you don’t really get a benefit from playing studs over good enough defenders.

High Clutch makes hitting easier IMO especially with ASG Degrom and other high clutch pitchers out there. Literally my only knock on Soriano is low clutch, makes him a boom or bust lead off guy for me, but diamond fielding at 2b means he wont be moving anytime soon. Dudes a vacuum out there.

I use Chipper at SS with Trea at 2B. It works well enough. You'll notice they both occasionally get less than ideal animations but I havent seen any glaring issues defensively.
I plan on moving him back to 3B though once I get my Ballplayer loadout set up for SS. I unfortunately started building him to play C then they released Schwarber (and Piazza) so currently using the BP at 3rd while grinding the Hawk loadout offline (slowly too I may add).

I have been trying out Brooks Robinson at third…..extra innings, runner on 3rd, two outs and he hits a dribbler to third. Brooks goes into the barehanded throw animation and whiffs for the loss lmao. What’s the point of using Brooks Robinson if he doesn’t make that play?

Fielding animations are the ultimate rng. That's why i just leave chipper at third. I'm convinced it doesn't matter how good the fielding attributes are, it's all about what animations you get.

If you’re using Chipper as a pinch hitter, I mean, I don’t even know what to say lol. He’s probably the best hitter in the game. Gold defense at 3rd..switch hitter
