12-6 curveball? I don't think that pitch exists.
-
I've played and coached baseball for many years. I played catcher my whole life, Little League through high school varsity, a number of years playing NABA and MSBL,, I'm a certified umpire and spent a season as a bullpen catcher for the triple A Co. Springs Sky Sox. I have never in my life seen a 12-6 curveball. As a bullpen catcher, I caught curveballs, knucklecurves, which really are no different than a curveball, some pitchers get better results with the knuckle, sliders, change ups, splitters, everything, and they all look basically the same from any pitcher. The movement on fastballs at that level are much more unique to each pitcher, but I've never seen, known or caught a pitch that drops straight down to the degree this game calls a 12-6 "curveball." And I've caught some nasty changeups and splitters.

Barry Zito’s curveball looked 12-6 to me, could be wrong though.

He’s the first guy I think of when I hear 12-6 lmao

Personally Glasnows curve looks like a 12-6 to me. I might be bugging, but it looks like it drops straight down.
-
Mike Mussina’s knucklecurve looked 12-6 too
-
Clayton Kershaw looks 12-6

Caught a guy in college who threw a 12-6. It may not be literally 12-6 but there are certainly guys who have more downward movement as opposed to side to side on their hook.
-
Most of these have the 12-6 curveball vertical drop!
-
Nick Pivetta has a 12-6
-
This guy named Nolan thought it existed...
-
Rick Mahler definitely had one

Which really should lead to more of this:
-
The curveball is like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. Ive even heard it said the curveball didnt exist. But that was before ESPN . LOL
-
Can’t believe no one has mentioned Bert Blyleven. Probably one of the most famous 12-6 hammers
-
Blyleven yes indeed. There have been many . Im 64 , Ive seen some hooks. Had a nice one myself when the world was flat.

-
Nolan Ryan, Clemens, and Verlander come to mind.
-
Tom Gordon and Greg Olson also had nasty 12-6 'ers
