Caught a guy in college who threw a 12-6. It may not be literally 12-6 but there are certainly guys who have more downward movement as opposed to side to side on their hook.

Most of these have the 12-6 curveball vertical drop!

Which really should lead to more of this:

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Bert Blyleven. Probably one of the most famous 12-6 hammers

@scottd_3ds_psn said in 12-6 curveball? I don't think that pitch exists.:

I've played and coached baseball for many years. I played catcher my whole life, Little League through high school varsity, a number of years playing NABA and MSBL,, I'm a certified umpire and spent a season as a bullpen catcher for the triple A Co. Springs Sky Sox. I have never in my life seen a 12-6 curveball. As a bullpen catcher, I caught curveballs, knucklecurves, which really are no different than a curveball, some pitchers get better results with the knuckle, sliders, change ups, splitters, everything, and they all look basically the same from any pitcher. The movement on fastballs at that level are much more unique to each pitcher, but I've never seen, known or caught a pitch that drops straight down to the degree this game calls a 12-6 "curveball." And I've caught some nasty changeups and splitters.

One of the best examples of a 12-6 is AJ Griffin.
I threw it, but it's a lot harder to throw than a regular curve, or a slurve.
    Not many throw it.
My son has a good one.
It's murder on your shoulder because you have to bring your thumb over the top of your fingers when you throw it to create that type of spin.
    And I think Greinke's "Bloopie" pitch is a 12-6.
You're right, though. Not many people throw a true 12-6.
    Check out Griffin on Youtube.
Another problem is that if you leave it up, the results are not good.

    Great stuff.

Idk, I checked out Griffin, amazing breaking ball,, but more 12-7:30. Good example of a nasty curveball though. Thanks for your comment and the AJ Griffin reference.

    I loved using AJ online.
Threw some masterpieces with him. I think he had a Gold Card one year.
    Too many injuries and HR's.
