No one was encouraging drug or alcohol abuse. If anything, it was a rare, healthy discussion about a great player with a weakness.
I realize some kids may visit these forums, but everyone was discouraging drug and alcohol abuse. The lack of empathy was what had me step in. Saying that someone is a failure or terrible person because of substance abuse makes it difficult for someone to seek help, which is why I included SAMHSA number.
The thread is still open if you want to talk about Halladay and accomplishments as a player. Just keep it positive.
I guess we need to start taking your opinions into consideration when we post on the forums... Kinda unreal... Nobody was breaking rules here.
And yet can't be bothered to post on threads about the actual game.
Yea I was gonna mention their lack of empathy for their player base and the community they represent but that would just fall on deaf ears.. They don't care.. It's unfortunate.
They really don't care.
People can bash madden all day and rightly so given the product they usually pump out but one area that can't be faulted is regular communication with their player base. They use Twitter, their own forums, reddit, and a daily stream to communicate new content and issues affecting gameplay.
I would be happy with just simple customer service and support. Its basically non existent. I don't understand how it hasn't been addressed by now.
-
Let he who be w out sin cast the 1st stone now go home to your glass house
-
I love the randomness of when and what they respond to. But I guess their answer in other threads would just be “we are currently looking in to it”
-
I'm thinking if we could figure out a way to work lack of empathy for the customer base they are driving to drugs and alcohol with their frustrating game, perhaps we'll get some action. I guess telling us to just quit playing is the answer.
It's like telling someone you got strung out on scratch-cards or slot-machines to just quit if you aren't getting the results you want.
Joking of course, it is sort of morbid and very disrespectful to take shots at the deceased. At least Doc was "something" once, more than any of us will likely ever be. Tons of ppl would have traded places with him despite the untimely.

Don't agree with the Halladay stuff though. I wouldn't have traded places with him for sure. I like my life despite the fact I've never been in the BIG spotlight.

Nice to see you SDS boys on a post deleting spree while I’ve got multiple unanswered emails about disappearing cards in my inventory. But hey, priorities, am I right?
Collin's job is to moderate this forum, he isn't also in charge of product development, fixing user error, or setting up networks.
If you aren't happy with the game, great! Don't personally attack a forum moderator because of something that is completely out of his control. It's the equivalent of yelling at your waiter because your steak wasn't cooked right.

Man you're an [censored] hole. You simply can't be nice to people, and you take every chance available to you to take a shot at others.
-
And now my watch begins.
-
The no response thing really has me thinking MLB will be going with another studio in the very near future. If they make that move I wouldn't be surprised, many people have already complained directly to MLB on how SDS has treated its playerbase.
-
What did I say doc? There is money and mucho respect in the fast-food world. Quit insinuating that there is not.
That's pretty judgemental and flippant when all I'm trying to do is help ppl with career paths. A kid I worked and graduated with went on to open 5 McDonald's franchises in my area. Probably doing better than most of us blokes working for the man.
I worked in fast-food in high school..please do not put it down. Your knee-[censored] reaction to insinuate I insulted someone is very telling and very insulting.

I mean, gosh-danggit Doc you truly are transparent sometimes. Way-way too judgemental about folks that are trying to make a living. I don't get it. C'mon man.
People exactly like you are why we're having problems right now getting our Big Macs and frosty shakes. Not to mention our Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos. Folks think the work is below them because of snide remarks from judgemental folks.

I think the saddest part of this whole thing is that you're legit proud of this, and you think you're so much smarter than everyone around you.
In reality, you're making fun of not only the moderator, but now folks who work fast food. I don't have any advice for you, I'm just glad I'm not you today my friend.

Ok, now you got my feathers ruffled. Quit saying I'm making fun of people. That's not how I roll. Why are you so mad at me that you would judge me and put me down like this?
Anyway, I'm sure Colin is a pretty sharp cookie. My only point of reference is people that worked the public boards at my shop didn't get paid a lot. A lot of people made fun of them. I never did, it's not a bad starting point. Get your foot in the door and move up into programming or whatever.
But, the point is..some shops don't have the sort of upward mobility. So, I emphasize fast-food managers are making $45k..with benefits..and that's median. My boy, last class reunion, was telling me he was making $350k with Micky D's before he started franchising.
Don't assume or judge. You do know what assume does don't you? Makes a "you know what" out of you and me.

A more appropriate analogy would be the steak I ordered and paid for disappeared and customer service is non existent. I understand Collin is not in charge of this, but myself and numerous forum members have taken every proper step to report out problems and haven’t heard back in months. So who else do you suggest we reach out to? It’s super annoying when moderators pick and choose what threads they want to respond to, seemingly avoiding all us that have reported issues just hanging us out to dry.

Actually it isn't my job. I posted the things I actually do in this post. I come here because I've been a part of gaming forums since dial-up and find being part of the community for the game you work on is important (also was a fan well before I joined SDS). But since I'm here I will clean things up when needed.
But less about me. This thread was about Roy Halladay being an excellent pitcher. Let's steer the conversation back there.

No offense. Me and Doc go way back. Doc the Cardinals fan, not Doc Halladay. Never knew him, but had a lot of respect for what he accomplished as a Big Leaguer.
Just funin' each other as folks in forums have a tendency to do. You do an awesome job out here, but if you're ever looking for recruitment I know people. Ha.
BTW, if you've been so long involved you've probably heard of IRC? I started one of the biggest/busiest channels of the late 90's. #Illinois. The original use of a SM hashtag AFAIK.
Not going to say I pioneered anything but was surely "plugged in" when the social media arena was still just a subliminal blip on the radar screen for most.
Keep up the good work Colin.

Agreed Halladay was a great pitcher indeed.
On another note why hasn't this thread been acknowledged?

https://forums.theshow.com/topic/41485/number-of-questions-about-dd-mechanicsMods continuously dodge and avoid any issues, bugs, or 2 month old unanswered tickets we all have with the support team. But god forbid you hurt their feelings about Roy Halladay!
