Ok, there are all kinds out here. Some sincere, some pretty sketchy. There are some folks that really seem to be all about helping out with this game. And, for the most part, they do a good job of it. Probably the primary focus of this forum I would imagine. To market and manage the product.
However, their are people that say the most ridiculous stuff. There is this one guy that tried to convince everyone he was an ex-triple A baseball player. And, TBH, that's not hard to believe. I'm sure this game appeals to ex-baseball players in general..by and large.
It's just this guy's entire narrative was so off. The main reason is he was so deadest on trying to make people believe he was. Just promoted his story way to hard. Those are the type that, typically, aren't.
Catfish always have an agenda. They'll go so far as to drag in fake pix and bogus identities, web-links, etc. thinking you can't possibly disprove such things.
Normally to establish credentials that should make them and expert on a relevant subject, or to build a relationship (those are the ones you really need to be careful of because it's typically not your better good they are concerned with).
So you younger kids, and even older kids. Be careful. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it might be a catfish.
I get what you're saying, and it's of course prevalent. But then again if someone wants to say they're a former AAA player, good for them. I could care less either way. If it doesn't effect me negatively I don't really care about any of that.
Has anyone ever clicked that little heart button next to ANYTHING you've posted?
Seems like a big commitment.

Exactly what is the point of claiming to be an ex-AAA baseball player or whatever on a video game forum? I think we'll all agree that the skills required to be good at this game have very little correlation with the skills required to be good at the real thing, so even if they're telling the truth what possible relevance could it have?
I'm not sure if I should be feeling sorry for the person because they're so desperate for positive attention that they seek it by lying to strangers on the internet, or just dismissing them as a moron because they're stupid enough to think their claim somehow gives them credibility that would cause any of us to take their opinions more seriously.

lol. To be fair, I posted that I was deleting the game too, and I did. I moved, upgraded internet, and the game was unplayable. However, I do love this game, so I did some research. I set up my router differently, per some suggestions I found online, and it fixed my problem. Now the game plays great for me (well, normal great, like it did before), and I'm having fun with it again.

This is what happens when you are a little TOO invested in an internet forum for a video game...
And yes, I'm talking about the OP.

lol, he's mad because he made fun of mental health issues. I called him out on it. He asked me why I'm an expert. I shared my credentials with him. He called me a liar. I PM'd him my bio (same name, same story I told him on the forums). Now he's upset that he was shown up. Perhaps he came on the forums to make fun of mental health issues because he has many of his own, and he's doing his best to cover up the issues he struggles with.
He also claims to work in "public publishing", per the PM he sent me. Judging his writing skills, as I would others (I'm a High School writing teacher by day), I'd say perhaps he is the real catfish.
Ignore him, his ego is really bruised today.
Dude, now you're following me to other threads? Creeeeeeeeepy. Nice you were able to advertise your HS writing teacher background yet again.
And you write silly things no genuinely accredited, in the craft of literature and writing skills, educator would. I could cite many examples from your odd posts, but let's just dissect this one.
"Judging his writing skills, blah-blah, he's the real catfish" Now, first of all, there is no logical connection between one's writing skills and whether you happen to be a deceptive catfish.
Catfish take all sorts of shapes. Some are pretty smart mofo's I would believe. Just so happens I've been recently conversing with one that isn't so smooth and is fairly transparent to anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together. Yes, "doc", that would be you.
A Doctor/professor/educator with the background you're trying to steal on this forum, would never articulate so. Very awkward and ineffective sentence structure. Dangling participles and all that jazz.
Ain't my first rodeo "Doc".
And, if you really are some moderator on this forum (which is reasonably likely) attempting to "feel out" folks or manipulate for whatever agenda..go harass the naive..they might actually believe you.
Perhaps your motivation is creating a bunch of profiles of "professional people" in order to give the illusion "all demographics play this awesome game..including the very professional and smart ones".
Maybe you want to "get close" to the legion of game-critics out here for some inane covert reason. Perhaps you're just bored. Maybe you really are some adolescent just trying to be "big".
Really don't know what your game is but, if someone could actually take this wager and proof could be offered..I would bet $5k you have about a dozen or so profiles.
Likely work for, at some level, SDS. Perhaps just as a lower-paid drone to moderate the forums and market the product all day. And, for sure, are the guy that pretends to be the ex-Triple A baseball player.
I may not be a "writing teacher" as you so comically term the title, but I'm pretty solid at sleuthing out the pretenders.

Doc Ramone..please stop the deception and Gaslighting on my post. SDS propaganda should be in separate threads with titles like "Topps Now Cards too Strong", "Who's your favorite Catcher", "Is Chipper worth it", and the Legend..wait for it..ary "I pulled Trout (so buy more packs and you might too)"
Yeah, ya slipped up with that "quitting post" a few weeks back and now have to retract and explain. As I recall, it was all about your unforgivable anger about Conquest sims that are glitchy.
Some weird attempt to draw certain folks out..am I correct?
Anyway, I connected that a long time ago just didn't mention it. Too many other inconsistencies with your weak back-story to search for old posts to use as fodder. Good luck with your reconfigured router and esteemed "writing teacher" career.

I'm sure you're not the only one. He just ain't real swift.
Well, to be fair, he's likely got so many profiles and characters to remember he just loses track of who he is supposed to be.
Also, shouldn't take on identities of personalities he isn't capable of representing. A "writing teacher" (that still makes me laugh) with a Doctorate and assorted degrees in Speech/English and comes across as someone that might actually be on a server in Mumbai working long distance (and cheaply) for this gaming company.
Perhaps not as dumb and transparent as perceived, just over burdened with an avalanche of profiles. And struggling with the finer points of the English language. Ha.

The last several years have further demonstrated how willing people are to believe the most ridiculous things without any evidence, even when the consequences are life and death.
They have also demonstrated how far people will go to deny hard evidence if it doesn’t fit their narrative.
I’m acutely aware of how few people are able and willing to think critically, especially when influenced by a cult leader. Amazingly, I am still shocked every time I personally encounter such gullibility. Yes, people really are that dumb.

Believe it all comes down to the fact there exists a multitude of personalities, beliefs, backgrounds, and upbringings.
People lie once and you expect them to lie again.
Some ppl are gullible and don't recognize the deception. Or, put too much emphasis/trust on the deliverer of the lie - whether it be our government, media, or some dude on a gaming forum.
More than 50% not vaccinated in this country. Are they wrong or right? It's all related to my first paragraph. If you say wrong..you're smarter than 180 million..if you say right..you're smarter than 150 million.
Pretty ballsy (stubborn/naive) for one person to say they have a better understanding of any issue that hundreds of millions disagree with.
