Lightning Joey Votto

I guess you also have to consider that historically 1B and RF are the best hitting positions in MLB. This holds true in the Show as these are the 2 most loaded positions for 99's. If they keep with using one of the 2 MLB POTM's, we get either a 1B or RF, so either way we get another player at one of the loaded positions.
-
My gut still says Votto, the troll would be another Ohtani, I have no clue if they break the trend who they go with

Yeah everyone is usually so quick to say "we need more middle infielders" even though from about 1930 to the mid 80s middle infield was mostly defensive specialists, great bunters etc. they were good players to have on your team but the only superstars in the middle infield during that time were pretty much just Ernie Banks and Jackie. Same with Catcher. Was pretty much a strictly defensive position until Roy Campanella and Johnny Bench changed that trend

Not everyone uses just 1 lineup all the time so 6,7, ….60 good firstbasemen….. so what?
-
It will be Soto or Votto. My guess is that they will give the Lightning to the exciting young Soto. No disrespect to Votto, but with Madden kicking off, SDS needs to generate some excitement right now, and a Soto lightning would be far more effective in keeping people playing the game then a Big, Slow 1B not many would even use in Votto. Sure Soto got a HR Derby, but we already had multiple Realmuto's, Salvy's etc, so I don't think that's gonna stop them. Votto will still get a high card too. 98 Soto Lightning with defense incoming!!!!!
-
Votto is likely to get a 99 awards card. He MASHED this past month though, and probably deserves it.
-
I could see them make a Lance mcculers card. And that would kinda suck, his delivery is hard to pick up and he is a sinker, cutter, curveball, changeup pitcher. It's gonna be Cabrera x2
-
Part of me wants to say they go with a Pitcher, maybe Buehler who was the NL Pitcher of the month. Ohtani already has multiple cards and I assume we will see a reprise of Votto's MVP card from last year at some point.
As long as we get a boosted Harrison Bader somewhere in the POTM program, hopefully higher tier, then I will be happy. Kyle Farmer needs to be included too. Those two won't be getting boosted diamond cards for any other reason, unlike many of the other candidates, so I really want them to get their due.
-
McCullers or Taillon would rock.

I hope it’s not Votto. It’s like 6 end game 1st basemen already. I been rocking Murray for a month. I don’t think he’ll ever move to my bench since he’s a great fielder as well as a great bat.
That is true.
I mean Thome is SICK.
I play offline and this mf is batting .497 in about 380 AB's. That's crazy. Crazy enough that Murray is on the bench and Ortiz is collecting dust!
It is time for a pitcher POM though -
As mentioned, they may give it to someone else and move up the release of 99 awards or Sig Votto… Or maybe they’ll give us Votto and replace the awards slot with that 99 Robin Yount we were supposed to get.
-
I'm looking forward to a juiced Bader card somewhere in the program!

There’s top tier players at every position at this point.
CF and C are the only positions that we don't have 99's and some of the RP areas.
I feel like we could use more complete 3rd basemen. I platoon Devers and Chris Taylor since Devers hits right well and Taylor hits left really well. I don’t think there’s really a complete one.
Uhh chipper jones is pretty complete

At first I thought walker buehler wouldn’t have a chance at the lighting but then while watching Brantley rip a double off him last night I forgot he has a cutter. Which is a great reason why I could see sds giving him the card

I would add Rogers Hornsby, Joe Gordon, and Joe Cronin (for middle infielders) along with Mickey Cochrane and Gabby Hartnett (as catchers) to your list, but your point is a good one. Those positions were primarily defensive minded positions, so its not as easy to add in this game.

I forgot about Joe Morgan, Alan Trammel, Yount as well(all hall of famers but people don't get excited about them too much in this game). Really though throughout history middle infield was mostly dominated by Ozzie Smith types. Shortstops hitting for a good amount of power is a very recent phenomenon

Defense at the corners hardly matters. Chipper plays really good defense for me

Have they ever not done an MLB POTM as the lightening player?
-
more Dodger cards please ....Walker Buehler
