Kris Bryant Boss please?

Screw that. I'm a huge Cubs fan and it's comical how everyone on the WS team regressed massively over the following years. Then of course there's Addison Russell, who I thought was going to be a perennial All Star after that year. Pfffff.
I say give us a Prime Carlos Zambrano with good hitting stats.
I'll also accept a Dan Quisenberry or Kent Tekulve. Because the 80's.

I'd rather have someone that actually deserves a 99.
Ok fine, give me a Headliner 97 MVP KB.
Go play MLB 20 for that. They aren't making him a headliner 2 years in a row

Bryant to my Mets, please 🤪Take him!
Also, the Zambrano card should have the hidden ability to start fistfights with teammates in the dugout. up, down, left, right, X, 0, start.

Dear SDS,
As a Cubs fan I am asking you to please give us a 99 MVP Kris Bryant card as an inning boss tomorrow. Reasons listed below:- The obvious, KB is getting traded in the next 24 hours. This devastates me and it will be our last chance to use him as a Cub moving forward with the exception of a rare flashback.
- We are also going to lose Rizzo in the next 24 hours, likely to Boston. Rizzo and more specifically Bryzzo, were the heart and soul of this team for the last 6 years.
- We are about to launch into a rebuild and if I know this team, it will be an unknown amount of time until they compete again. They are the lovable losers for a reason. Wrigley will always sell out, regardless of team talent, because it is the biggest bar in America.
For all of these reasons, please give us Cub fans one last hurrah. It will help ease the pain as our team is picked over by teams like a vulture and a carcass in the dessert.
I watched the game last night against the reds, which was probably he and Rizzo's last game in that uniform. It's sickening to think about but I've watched players I love leave the team numerous times. None more upsetting than Greg Maddux going to ATL.

I'm of the belief that 99s should be reserved for true greats of the game; someone that has proven themself over time. That Franco got a 99 is a joke, but I'm in the minority on that.

And, the biggest point, if they can give Wonder Franco a 99 card batting about .200 and stinking. A guy that never batted more than 200, because he's only played 6 weeks or so. May never be more than a utility player. May get hurt and never play in the Bigs and 2021 be the high point of his career. A guy that has potential..just means they ain't done it yet.
So, yeah, I think that's the only argument you would need to get a 99 for anyone. Patrick Wisdom, David Bote, and Nico Hoerner included.
There surely is no science to it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the made up cards myself when there is such history to pull from. But, SDS knows that fans will go nuts for high ranked prospect and future stars cards from their favorite team so I don't see it changing.

Unfortunately, that is true. Saw the writing on the wall when potm's came out initially, and knew this is where we were heading. I really don't like having to sit a hof because their card isn't as good, but I like to put my best cards forward so that's just the way it is. Maybe when we get the truly elite hof's, I can go ahead and sit the AS 21s, but who knows as they really blew the 21s up.

For those annoyed by rookies with inflated ratings, I think it helps to look at them as actual real life baseball cards.
Live series wander is like a super common card that some kid stuck in their bicycle spokes and rode around town with, but the 99 version is like a mint condition limited edition rookie card that a hardcore collector stores in the best protective case money can buy.

I have faith in Jeb Hoyer. Farm system is in better shape now than when they took over the last rebuild.

They weren't accomplishing a whole lot with what they had. The core guys, as much as I liked them, failed when the big series were on the line. 2016 was legendary obviously, an impossible encore. But after that they just started a slow tumble downhill. You would have expected the opposite from a young talented group like they were coming out of the 2016 WS.
Can't blame front office for just pulling the plug all things considered. They got a heck of a injection in their farm system.
There are free agents that will be available to upgrade these guys.
Baez, again, a pretty exciting player was horribly flawed. Cubs offered him $180 million and he turned it down. He won't be worth that the rest of his career. And, I don't expect he'll get half of that this winter. Perhaps the Cubs can get him on the cheap. Maybe Rizzo as well. But, there was something not working with that chemistry and they might be best concentrating on other players. Castellanos would be a good start.
If they don't spend like they got it this winter...and they are a big market club with limitless reserves..they won't be getting any more of my money for a couple seasons.
