They've already stated that R2 is intended to control pace

    Do something about it SDS.

This is from the patch notes recently.

"From the devs: We intended R2 to be used in a way to let the batter stop the pitcher from quick pitching and “take a breath” (and of course see the pitch repertoire and pitch history). In real Baseball, it might be equivalent to the batter keeping their foot out of the box, for example. For that reason, we don’t want to simply remove the feature entirely, but unfortunately we’ve seen players misusing it and causing grief for those who use pinpoint pitching. We hope this change alleviates some of that grief going forward."

Do people abuse R2? Sure, and it's obnoxious when they do. But there is a zero percent chance of SDS doing anything to your opponent. They didn't break any rules. You, however, did.

Just still chuckle when these cats mention doing anything in the context of "real baseball".

We might have guys mysteriously over run 2nd every few games just for laughs. We might put out prospect cards with single A pitchers having 97 ratings. We might make sure, for the sake of parity, we'll let the sad-sack players that swing at everything suddenly hone in on 97 Kimbrel in the 9th to steal a win off 2 consecutive hits and an error, over the head catches by a pitcher turned into double-plays with 99 base-runners flying around, base-runners on 3rd caught in a run down and still score because the fielder nonchalantly triple-clutches and lazily throws the ball to the plate in a big arch like a slow-pitch softball.

I could come up with 468 pages single-spaced of other outlandish stuff that's nothing like "real baseball". But, boy, when they want to back up something strange with a solid reference it's "In real Baseball, it might be equivalent to the batter keeping their foot out of the box, for example"

    Whatevs.

Then there is zero percent chance of me spending another dime on this or future SDS games!

I don't understand why they have unlimited r2's. You can only step off so many times so what's the difference?

right so if sds is not going to handle this problem then this place should get off there high horse and give us a place to call out these people by name who abuse anything in the game from R2 abuse to bunt cheese to crappy internet to rude chat or bad logos so maybe when they see the same ahole name 50 times maybe something will be done not this ban the person who call out a [censored] by name that thinking is just outdated and is the reason good games keep going down hill

The answer is to get rid of r2, but put a 5 second window between the end if a pitch and the pitch select buttons coming back onscreen.

They would need to find a way to show pitch history and energy/confidence/repertoire though.

What does calling them out by name actually accomplish?

Yes R2 holders are annoying, but most just stop if you combat it with stepping off the mound or just wait as long as possible to pitch.. if they wanna waste your time, just waste theirs 🤷🏻‍♂️
