Last year, there were 518 flashback cards.
There's 1200 LS cards on a major league roster at any given time.
Limit that to silver and up and you're at about 380.It's not shocking, at all, that players would get cards year after year. It'd be more shocking if they didn't.
Just start randomly selecting players from the past and making more Diamond Cards.
They could just roll it out like "Prospects" . Take some average-to-mediocre MLB player from the past and give 'em Diamond cards that represent what he could have "potentially" done on another club or "potentially" done if there had been steroids to fall back on instead of just greenies. We'll call this set the "Coulda been Prospects". Guys like Jose Cardenal and George Mitterwald. Mabye lower the bar even more (anything for more Diamonds) and add in Tommy Meddica and Tony Gwynn Jr..
Maybe players that flashed greatness for a couple season and got injured. Call 'em the "MASH prospects".
David Stieb, JR Richard, Tony Conigliaro..guys that actually made it to The Show and flashed some numbers that could forseeably have happened.'Cause we all know..more Diamonds are in order. Just can't have enuf.

I was thinking about some more obscure cards and Tony Womack popped into my head, I'd enjoy his card probably.

At this point in the year, if a card ISN'T a diamond, no one's going to use it unless they have to (Events, BR).

That's absolutely correct...and think about it.

Womack's best year was 2004 when he had a 3.3 WAR.
That'd be comparable to ... 2019 Freddy Galvis.

I know it wouldn't a good card, I just really liked Womack when I was a kid for some reason. Prob be similar to Dee Gordon's gold card.

How much do card ratings really matter online? Isn’t online play based on user skill and not player ratings? Or am I wrong?

Neither. It’s based on RNG. Better ratings help favor RNG for you. There’s also glitchy swings that seem to make some players player better than their rating. But essentially it’s put the pci on the ball and see what the game wants to have happen (or completely miss the PCI and still might hit a HR… aka RNG)

Man after my own heart.

Andrew Chafin for example had a great month, a lefty reliever and was part of a no hitter, is an example of a guy who would be more fun than Morton, how we always get like 7 versions of.
THIS, thank you. There are a lot of bozos on this thread trying to come off as funny and clever but this is my exact point. These guys I listed aren't the only one's having good months annually. The focus is always on these guys for some reason. Hell my man Reyes is an all star and can't even break a 73 bronze, really hope he gets the Cards TA3 all star.

I wish they’d dig a little deeper and use these opportunities for smaller market, less known players to get a card. Would help more people learn about some hidden gems on teams that don’t get much coverage. Save the “regular” Flashbacks for random headliners, TAs, Henchmen.
I got to say I am in love with the Bryan Reynolds POTM card that came out yesterday
Does he hit well enough to use in rs? I love switch hitters and thought he had a good swing

I only really play offline so can’t help there

I mean, if we are being real, it's kind of all three, (though player ratings and RNG are essentially the same thing, higher power rating gives RNG a better chance to land a home run). The player rating/stats are the dice used to roll the numbers.

To the OP’s point.. Another player I talk about a lot about on the forum is Brad Hand.. He was 10 for 10 in saves last month.. Again a position of need in a Lefty Reliever, instead we get a Tommy Pham card ( no disrespect to him, I like him as a player) with an unusable swing… I’ve been playing DD since 16 and they’ve given Hand one diamond ( a finest last year)… Every year he’s a top 3-5 lefty reliever, a multiple all star, Since becoming a full time reliever has a sub 3 era, over a strike out an inning and a whip around 1.. Yet SDS seems to shut him out of getting diamonds.
