Does anybody know how Home/Away is determined?

My best guess is who queued up first and who joined the others session.

Does anyone know how the home/away is determined in online games? In the last 18 online games I've played I've been home 3 times. I'd estimate that I'm only getting home games between 10 and 20% of the time. It's starting to get annoying always having to play at everyone else's park choices.
Same thing happens to me too. Oddly enough we’ve had a bunch of visitors recently and a ton more devices have been on my network, and I’ve been the home team more recently than usual. There is something going on that causes us to be the away team more than home. But I don’t know what it is. I’d have days where I’d be the away team 9-10 times or 7-8 times. That’s not random.

I think it may have to do with:
How often do you play with your favorite team the first game of the day, if you choose to play in the ballpark of your team, and maybe some odd fairness:
if you win a lot as a home team, and your current opponent as well, then is random who gets to be home team. Otherwise, if you win more than him as a home team, and he wins more than you as an away team, then you will end up as an away team and vice versa. Pretty crazy no? Also, after 3 to 5 wins in a row, they start to shoot u straight up as a visitor to put endurance pressure on you. -
I have gotten a TON of home games lately in online rated. Like every time I get excited and go wow. In BR I was home 7 of 9 games I played last night.
Just a feeling - one of the main server issues up until this point was trying to play on shitty connections - I think one of their server maintenance's was to adjust how home was rewarded - and I think it rewards to the person with the better connection. I'm wired, I have gigabit internet with 4ms ping (I need it for my work, I deal with lots of large video downloads) - I have just about the fastest internet in Canada - Speedtest.net tells me I'm within the top 1% of internet speeds in my country. So I am thinking their resolution to constantly shitty, laggy games, was to resolve it by giving home (which is the "beacon" in a game connection) to the person with the better internet.
Before you complain that's unfair, it benefits BOTH teams because of the "beacon" effect I just mentioned. In short, someone has to host the game, and to give it to the better internet connection means a smoother game for both parties.

My theory with any sports game regarding this is that it has always been the player with the stronger internet connection is chosen to be the host and they get to be the home team. I could be completely wrong in this but I have a 400 mbps service and I feel like I’m the home team more often than not in this and NHL.

It wasn’t always that way, but I believe a recent server update did exactly this. And mpbs doesn’t matter, the key is ping time.

Something has definitely changed. I am the home team so much more recently than I’ve been in the past.

True but they usually go hand in hand. Slower download speeds generally lead to higher ping.

This is what I thought at first too but I have good speed and ping. The funny thing is after posting this I'm getting far more home games. Just weird to me.

I am home a lot in online rated. I'd say 70% . I'm not that good or anything but do have a solid connection.
