So two Frank Thomases and Cy Young without a secondary fastball, basically.

Yea I mean I looked at their stats and just went..well if I want 100K stubs after selling all three...I'll play the event but don't really need any stubs at this point.

3 huge Ls

Gigantic Ls. Upsetting if this is the last three SS we will be getting.

who actually needs/wants these ??
exactly LOL. I am usually supportive when it comes to the content because they have done such a great job this year...but these event rewards are brutal. Both hitters aren't even good enough to be Bench Bats. Cy Young card is the 96 version with slightly more control and more velocity on his FB.
I would of done a 99 Orel, 99 Gossage (since he did have a Immortal in 18), and 99 Betts (just because he would play a mean 2B!). All three of these cards could actually be usable... Young, Konerko, and Kiner are not at all.
-
Was really hoping for a 99 lefty CP to replace 97 Hendriks in the pen. Guess we'll never be able to have an all 99 pen..

I would really like to have another lefty 99, but who would it be? Realistically it could only be Chapman, but do we really need another Chapman?
They could've done a 99 Goose with better control and he would have been a useful addition imo.

Young is basically Blyleven
-
two Bench bats and a pitcher that should have been released months ago
-
at this point unless your doing theme teams these are cracking a roster even as a bench bat

Holy sack, all these "giant L" posts make me go a big rubbery one. IT'S JANUARY! They're still releasing new content on a lame duck game! Be thankful! And if you refuse to be thankful, at least just be logical -- it makes a lot more sense to release cards that aren't going to set the world on fire in JANUARY when the playerbase has dwindled rather than in May when it's at its peak. If Kiner or Konerko had been a program boss, we would probably have all had a good reason to whine a little. But these are just little winter bonuses for those of us who are sticking around.
Honestly -- with all the content at this point, what do any of us NEED to complete our God squads? Maybe another lefty CP? Beyond that ... what were you expecting? At this point, these cards are just fan service (so Sox fans like me are happy with Konerko ... maybe the next event will feature a fun little treat for fans of lesser teams ... jk sorta).
Also, there are Moments Extreme coming, and they are clearly not done giving us new content. Orel, Joe, Spahn -- they're almost certainly all on the way. SOMETHING has to come out in January and February -- wouldn't you rather it be fringe cards rather than Griffey or Mays or somebody like that?
SDS has been very good about letting us know when something is coming to an end (they gave us a heads up about the last Live Stream, the last raster updates, the last Conquest, the last program, etc.). When they're done releasing cards, they'll let us know. More is on the way ...
-
SDS Poster in January: "These 3 cards aren't even good enough to make my bench."
Same SDS Poster last June: "Why are they releasing Edgar and Thome? WE WANT CHIPPER AND THE BABE!!!"
You guys bched all last year when they released everything "too early" and are bching now because these cards are being released "too late".
How about we just all enjoy what we have in the moment?

Imo it makes more sense to release these type of cards early in the year because they would actually start on a lot more teams. Now everyone has a stacked team so these cards are gonna go pretty much unused

I have to disagree. These aren't very big names. I think Konerko and Kiner were always destined to be ultra-niche cards for fans of those teams/eras/players. Ex: I'm not sure I've ever seen the 94 Kiner outside of BR all year, and that card has been available since launch (it may have taken a few days to unlock, but it was always there). So I doubt that a 99 Kiner (or 98 Konerko) was EVER going to find a starting spot on a non-theme team.
I'm glad they're releasing the fan service-type cards after all the must-have cards have been released. Remember, if these cards had been released earlier in the game cycle, that would have displaced something else until now. So let's say they release Konerko and Kiner in July -- then what would have been pushed back to the winter? Maybe they could have switched the release dates of Konerko and Killebrew (both are super slow 1B with no glove but lots of pop -- seems like a fair comparison). Would that have necessarily been any better?
I dunno. I just feel like we're complaining for the experience of complaining. If SDS decided to release cards all through the winter, then that means SOMETHING needed to come out in the winter. By the sound of it, almost any card they release now would be met with anger. If they released a super-juiced lefty reliever, we'd get a ton of "why did they wait until January to release such a good card??!?!?!?!" Instead, they release cards that no one was really knocking down the door for, and people complain that these cards aren't that great. If I worked at SDS I would just give up and jump off a bridge. Nothing makes anyone happy ever.

Be careful, this is making way to much sense, So to make myself feel superior I'll just dismiss you as an SDS shill while I grab my pitchforks.

The complaining is crazy. In a way, I'm actually glad they aren't releasing cards I ABSOLUTELY WANT right now. I'd rather have them early in the year. And it also helps me to know I didn't waste some stubs in the past month or so on cards I've played with and would have regretted if there was something else that came out that I loved.
None are must-haves. I've always liked Konerko's swing, so that's cool. Cy Young was always going to be a yawn for me, as well as Kiner.
But, I must say, it's crazy we haven't seen a Joe Carter yet. Not that I necessarily want him, per se, but he is the only one of the original 30 special-edition diamonds who haven't gotten a sig card. Is it on purpose? Seems weird to not have one for the sake of a Konerko or slightly upgraded Kiner. (Or previously Bautista, if you will).

Literally any content complaints post 10th inning bosses exclusively comes from lack of Hershiser or Gossage, maybe chapman. Those are the only cards anyone remotely would use for their team. I like these cards personally. Hopefully Kiner is better than the 94. As a tigers fan Konerko is the only White Sox player ive ever liked. This time last year they only released like one event reward a month so its a win in my book

They gave Cy the full Mathewson screwjob
