Why I'll never be a good hitter

I have a complete inability to not drop my PCI.
I try so hard not to do it, but every time I think I don't the feedback says otherwise.
I really have no idea how to stop, but when I don't screw up, I hit great, but thats probably less than 5 percent of the time.
This is my 3rd year playing DD and my online average is never above .200. You can't win this way. Very frustrating, I've tried everything.Do you hit with your finger on the swing button or pressing it halfway down?
If you do try keeping your finger off the button. It helps your brain lead with the PCI and it also helps a lot with your swing timing. I just figured this out myself recently.

I am dumbfounded at what to do.
I can pitch really good and know facing human batters is a different story, but I could be really good online maybe WS good if it wasn't for this.
It sucks.
There are times where I just sit there, head down in disbelief that I dropped the chalupa again.
Maybe if I got a PS5 controller it may help, but you can't even get one. -

And the later you are on a swing the lower the pci will end up
Is that how that works???
yessir and likewise earlier raises the resulting pci

I don't know that this is always the case. I am a PCI dropper and also am early on everything. I hit best with hitters that others feel have long/slow swings and struggle with quicker ones. My brain sees a pitch to drive and I say "I'm jumping on this" with the result being a dropped pci and early. I am a first year player and working through it...just don't think dropped pci is always due to being late. However, I do believe it works that way with pure analog.

Have you tried turning your PCI indicator off? That might help with moving your stick with the pitch instead of reacting and slamming it to the spot you think the ball is going.

I just started doing this and what a difference that has made. Not sure how that makes that big of a difference but it feels different.
Played an event game since I started doing this and scored 7 runs on 7 hits with three HRS, a double and a triple. I never have done that. -

I like to drop it low and to the right. Don’t throw a slider away from me haha.

i think starting the pci high is the worst thing u can do if u tend to drop. starting high forces you to drop the pci on every pitch except for pitches at the very top of the zone, making it easy to overcompensate and slam the pci down. middle is the best option to cover the entire plate imo. ik that doesn’t work for everyone but i recommend giving it a try

This is a solid tip... I catch myself all the time being like "How did I not get my pci there I was right on that" and then I realized I'm definitely swinging before my pci reaches the location.

I agree with @mitchhammond24 about starting PCI high at least for me it never worked and I could never hit that way. What I started doing a few years ago and haven't looked back is starting my PCI middle in on every batter left or right handed. I never have trouble getting to the outside of the zone. So this is just something that is comfortable to me. Pitch down the middle? just let go of your analog stick.
-
I’m not very good at moving my pci either but on the first two strikes I sit on a pitch in a location that I can drive. If I don’t get said pitch on 2 strike counts I start the pci top left and follow the ball out of pitchers hand using circle

This is as good as any advice I've seen. It makes perfect sense.
It's not a magic formula by any means but I am making better contact and not striking out nearly as much plus my plate discipline is far better. -
I caved and tried Precision Rings. It helped!
It also keeps you disciplined and not expand the strike zone.
For me, it got to the point where I wanted to record my hands to see if I instinctively drop the PCI down before I swing.
The limited mobility is a bit tricky on defense, but with practice, you will improve if you can't stop dropping your PCI. -
