If you switch Marcus Semien to from a SS to a 2B in the regular roster without changing any stats he jumps from an 84 to a 91. Granted overalls in offline rosters are higher than DD, but I'd imagine he is an 86-87 if his overall was fixed in DD. My guess is SDS is avoiding this because they don't want to make him a diamond yet, either way, that's a bad excuse to not fix someone to their correct position.

According to Fangraphs, Semien has a higher offensive value than sluggers Aaron Judge and JD Martinez, a player who just got bumped to a 91, and a player who is an 83 without any defense. So Marcus now outhits JD and actually defends too, nice.
But let's compare apples to apples, middle infielders to middle infielders. Enter Trea Turner who not only got a bump to a diamond, he's an 87 right now, not even some borderline diamond.
According to Baseball Reference, Marcus Semien has been nearly twice as valuable (1.82x to be exact) than 87 overall Trea Turner.
Trea Turner has a 1.7 bWAR, Marcus Semien has a 3.1.
Ah yes, but what about the 3 year average? After all, diamonds are based off more than one year, right?
Trea Turner, (2019-2021) 8.3 bWAR
Marcus Semien (2019-2021): 11.3 bWARBut it gets better. Marcus Semien has a 78 fielding and 50 arm strength in DD. He's currently playing the best defense of his life. He has 0.9 dWAR, on pace for a 2.56 dWAR season, making him not good defender, but a great defender.
Now let's get down to some of the nitty-gritty in our Trea Turner apples-to-apples comparison.
Contact vs. Righties
Trea Turner has 80 CON V R, Semien has 76. Turner is batting .286 against righties, Semien is batting .307 against righties.Power vs. Righties
Semien actually leads this one with 78 Power vs. R to Turner's 72. The only issue? Semien has an .895 OPS+ vs. R and Turner has a .781. Semien is .110+ OPS+ better and yet only 6 stats better, what?please just make him diamond already

Man there are some plot holes here lmao. First and foremost, ratings for the beginning of this year were built on a three year average, the most recent season is weighted the most.
Marcus Semien was outstanding in 2019, but in 2018 and 2020 was a below league average hitter in both OPS and wRC+. Not only that, but to start 2021 in his first 95 ABs through March/April he hit .211 and slugged a whopping .368.
Yes he should probably be the the POTM for May. But one month doesn't erase two below average years (2018 & 2020) nor the slow start he had this year.
Using Trea Turner as a comp doesn't help Semien at all. The last three years Turner has averaged an OPS+ of 117, he's been better than league average since 2015. He's got way more speed which helps his overall as a SS. Turner was fantastic last year and has started off this year the same way. When Semien was sucking eggs to start the year, Turner has been hitting over .300 for the whole year so far with 10 HR.
Semien is a better defender, which is reflected in both their fielding attributes. Arm strength isn't really measured well, but Semien's fielding ratings aren't really due to arm strength, but to his good range and ability.
Will Semien return to diamond, sure if he continues to pay like he is. Should that have any affect on Trea Turner or should he be considered better than Trea Turner, absolutely not.

2018 is no longer accounted into the three years, the three year average, it includes the current year.
Also he would already be a Diamond if he moved to 2B, his actual position, SDS shouldn’t prevent him from going to his deserved position just because they want to keep him gold for some reason, that’s stupid, just make him play the position he plays

What i have found out on this site is that way to many people put to much emphasis on sabermetrics and not the eye test or the pure numbers. Sabermetrics are just a tool..

He has had a change in every single update so far.
80 to 78 after hitting .216 in April.
78 to 80 after he righted the ship the first half of May
80 to 82 after the second half of May.And my guess is he will get another bump this time. Probably not 3 points. If he keeps it up though he will get there.
