I've said this before, for me, I will only do one about 3-5 times in a row and if I keep failing, I move on and come back to it later. If you do more than that, the frustration sets in and it feels even worse. I come back to it later and can't tell you how many times I finish it on the first try. The Thome TA2 one ... seriously, hit one HR ... couldn't do it. Did it 5 times, failed. Came back to it after doing others Moments, failed 5 more times. Came back to it the next day ... second pitch, gone. The 8 TB's for Arozarena Topps Now for this week, same thing. Couldn't do a thing on it. Came back to it a day later, two HR's in my first attempt. It seems like too many people just grind and grind and grind on one over and over. Move on and come back to it.

The only moments I get annoyed at losing are pitch 8 innings without giving up a run type where I'll do 7 2/3 and then cpu hits a perfect perfect home run on a pitch a foot outside

Moments as a concept i think are great - but their execution is insanely flawed imo
Its one of the few areas of this game that functionally punish you for play "good" baseball - in a three ball count you're better off swinging at a bad pitch and hoping to bloop a hit or be blessed by an RNGesus home run rather then taking the free base

The issue is that the "moment" is kind of brushed to the side as a second thought. The moment is why we are here playing it, it should be pretty darn impossible to fail. It's not supposed to be a challenge, you are supposed to be witnessing a "moment" in baseball.

I love moments, and have actually been pretty happy with some of the rewards we earn. The logic, at times, is incredibly frustrating. I do not have a problem with tough challenges; 8 bases in 1 games, 2 XBH, 15 bases in x games etc. etc. -- but the logic is irritating. Needing to get a certain amount of hits and getting walked, needing to it home runs but your are going against Yu Darvish, who only throws ball.

The most frustrating experience I faced was the Dante Bichette -- 1 XBH 1 steal. I hit a homer run -- nailed the XBH. I then hit a single, I want to steal, but the batter is in a 3-2 count... they are swinging to protect, the AB ends with a walk. Hit another single, the batter is in an 0-2 count with 2 out -- the guy strikes out. W T F!?!?

This one is wrecking me. Can't steal when locked to save my life.

On player locked moments you watch the catcher. As soon as he shifts into position, you steal. Watch the catcher, not the pitcher.

I find it's easier to steal 3rd, than second, so try to get on second. No one is holding you on there.

And it’s always a guy with 50 or less power.

Moments aren't that bad my guy. I have had a couple that took quite a few attempts (McMahon), but I still get them done. This game already has a problem (imo) with giving things away for free or for little effort. Sorry, but I feel like a bit of a struggle is necessary for a quality game. Right now the only struggle is trying to accumulate enough stubs to complete collections.

They’re not that bad at all. I mean it’s on veteran. These guys want a participation prize! Jeez

You need to go into mode specific settings and change the length of cpu at bats to “entire at ball” or “all pitches” instead of action pitches or half of the at bat.

    My trick:

    • Take your lead off right when they get into the stretch.
    • From there, watch the pitchers back hip, it will tell you everything.
    • As soon as that back hip rocks back, I'm gone.

Good tips. I'll give it a try.

What’s frustrating to me isn’t failing, but that moments and especially showdown play differently than regular games on the same difficulty.

This is exactly the problem. I don’t think anyone is against a challenge for a reward, but calling moments “rookie” or “veteran” difficulty and then messing with the sliders to make them harder is deceitful and lame. Just make them on All Star or Legend if they need to be challenging.

It is a fine line IMO. Do I enjoy doing the moments? Yeah, for the most park. Some are harder than others. Some make me want to throw my controller. But if they were too easy, that'd be pretty lame too.

Hold R1 and lean, you get a WAY better jump. I haven’t struggled with a steal moment in years once I remembered this from RTTS. Extremely effective.

Agreed, if you fail say 5 times then you should be given the reward for persistence. Nobody gains from being so frustrated you turn off the game

given a reward for persistence? i bet you're one that thinks everyone that plays should get a trophy too. Or the guy washing the dishes at McDonalds should be give that CEO job of Amazon cause well gosh dang it he tried really hard. While i agree they can be frustrating AF, work harder to get them. Separates the level of player and dedicated players from the casual. It's like Judge Elihu Smails says "Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too."

Ha! Yeah I have a bunch of friends on Xbox this year I’ve been trying to tell all about these little quirks in there. Someone told me about this one a couple years ago and it was mind blowing. Good luck!
