What I really love about this game
-
About 1 RS game out of 5 the animation really appears to be accurately tracking controller input. Then it's a lot of fun.
What I really hate about this game..about 4 games out of 5 there is no semblance of consistency with controller input. When the game has concluded who is going to win..typically before it starts..it will just create this stream of animation that plays out however the code has decided it needs to depict an "exciting" game of baseball.
Countless times I won't even move my controller and the PCI jumps all over the place. At least half the time (I could chart it but that would be too much trouble) the PCI doesn't come close to matching where I know I moved my controller. The reason...because the code is controlling the outcome..not the controller/player.
When the code decides to hamstring either me or my opponent you see the most bizarre animation to support the "excitement". Guys over-running base like they never-ever do. Always getting tagged out trying to return.
Many little "tricks" the designers, I suppose, slip in believing we the player won't see it for the BS it is. The worst is the late inning neutralizing of anything that resembles solid contact on the ball.
You'll be playing for 8 innings and everything feels fairly normal (meaning what you would expect for the most part from how you swung)...suddenly when it's time for the code to change the game you might go 3 innings where the animation falls off a cliff. Everything you were previously squaring up on becomes cans-of-corn, infield flies, just that silly audio they inject to make-believe you rolled-over a ball or whatever the intent is.
I've been saving a lot of this video. I've got at least 20 different variations of this type of activity that is telling..very telling. Problem is, you post a link to any sort of "glitch" video and it's a potential trip to band-land. The gatekeepers love to build up the nonsense competition that doesn't exist in this game, but HATE to see anyone point out it's many-many flaws that so obviously underscore the fact there is no competition in this game. It's always player-vs-AI..regardless of the mode you happen to be playing in. Sad..sad.

My buddies and I have a group chat going where we strictly talk about the show. I can’t even begin to tell you how much evidence we have proving the game is nowhere close to the level of competitiveness SDS preached pre release. I wish I was kidding but everyday someone sends a picture of a whack pci placement/bad timing home run or a great pci placement/good timing weak fly out. Obviously the outcomes are dependent on the inning and the score of the game and can favor either you or your opponent. But god forbid you post anything like that on this forum because people will say that’s “just baseball” or “get good” lol. It doesn’t take a genius to play the game for hours on end and realize the patterns/scripts that take place in the game modes that we were told would strictly rely on user input. Granted there will still be skill gaps because the script can be beat but it’s just a pain to have to go against the script and the opponent at the same time.

The biggest tell for me so for is when I face guys who I strike out between 15-23x a game but barely squeak out a win. Had a few good timing/pci balls that just went no where. Balls that should be line drives into gaps that float or balls hit right at people.
Had 4 hits and won 2-0 on 2 solo shots. Other guy couldnt hit offspeed until like inning 7 and he also finished with like 4 hits and 17ks.

So wait.. just checking... Looks like OP is claiming 12 inning games and DDA.
Then accuses gatekeepers of hiding the flaws.

I don't know Ramone, what's your reading level. I'm holding up 3 fingers right now if you want to "read between the lines". Ha.

There's no way this is true. There are consistent good players that are really good every year. Go watch one of CBrev's streams, he almost always wins, I don't think I've EVER seen him lose although I'm sure it happens sometimes. If what you were saying was true, CBrev would win 50/50 or 75% of the time, not 99%.

I dig what you say and support all of it except the last sentence. The script can't be beat. It's code. We're users. It's a false reality and the code is Godlike. Doesn't matter if you have reflexes like a mongoose and eye-focus like an eagle. The script, as you call it and a very appropriate term, doesn't allow for adlibbing.
AI will always be the decider of results because it controls the animation. The user does not. You might be so good you cause the animation to take a couple extra gyrations to cause your demise (if that's the pre-disposed outcome) in order to instill some sense of realism but it's always going to decide the winner/loser. IMO.

There is a lot of truth to what he’s saying, but for the most part the better player is going to win the game. Guys like brev are good enough to win consistently despite the scripted elements, but I have no doubt that he deals with it as well. To be fair, most games are guilty of this to some extent in order to keep things more competitive. Still annoying though.

Yeah, I'm not saying there are scripted elements, I believe there is, but it's not something we can truly blame a loss on against another human if guys like CBrev can pretty much always win.
Showdown is another beast though, I've definitely had times where it felt like there was no way it would give me a fair game.

Let me ask you something..do you believe there is any possibility that a gaming company would purposely create these "super-human" players. By that I mean, manipulate the whole CBrev package in order to give folks like you a hero to strive to be? I believe it's not only very easily possible, it's a part of most online games.
But, especially with this game where your only variable (for the most part) is a swing and pitch there really aren't a whole lot of moving pieces. Not like FIFA or Madden where you're controlling 11 pieces and, literally, thousands of potential outcomes (moves, formations and such). And we know AI scripting is rampant in those 2.
So, you have this EXTREMELY limited variable-set in the game. Anyone that spends a few hours in this game will begin to get an inherent ability to perfect-pitch and swing only at strikes. At that point the AI has to step in and be the decider.
That's where you see the perfect-pitch you throw 8 inches below the knees end up in the middle of the plate. An opponent that can't hit anything the entire game suddenly string 3 base-hits together on pitches he flailed at for the first 20 AB's.
The pitch (much more than the swing) is where the AI HAS to take over and manipulate. Otherwise we would all be batting .500 with homeruns every 3 or 4 AB's. In a gaming environment like that with the AI being such a decisive factor I don't for one minute believe there is anyone that wins 90% of the time, 80% of the time or even 70% of the time.
This game is designed for parity..and parity is what results. Any numbers that indicate otherwise, you have to consider, could be marketing tools.

Yea, Cbrev was made in a lab in sds basement for all us mere mortals to strive to be like
-
this is another reason i dont play online anymore, to many anger issues with what i believe cant be controlled.......
even playing cpu im like, "thats not where i had my pci"
anyways, theres to much to this game that hardly any of it is believable but then again its a video game....... -

Not in a lab. If you don't believe he could be getting kick-backs from SDS, AI controlling his games favorably (why not?), or a host of other extremely technologically...not skill related..reasons he's so successful.
C'mon, no one out here that is being truthful will deny the AI is taking a lot of liberties in this game. Do you really believe the AI would allow someone to win 95% of the time without a design exception?
Show me someone that legitimately loses 95% of the time while doing their best to win.
Ain't gonna happen because that would be customer lost. SDS ain't going to alienate customers. So, the same reason the worst player in the world won't lose 95% of the time is the reason I believe, unless their is marketing trickery involved, the best player will not win 95% of the time.
If you don't believe it..whatever.

CBrev getting kickback from SDS is like you getting kickback from Reynolds Wrap. That tin foil hat requires a sponsor for sure

I'm done trying to ruin Christmas and Easter for you all by calling out Santa and the Easter Bunny.
Throwing up the possibility a gaming company may not get over-manipulative in order to successfully market their product. I know good marketing only generates more revenues and you take whatever you can get despite the ethics involved.
Do apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings by suggesting skill is not what this game is built upon. Go get 'em tigers.

I watch Cbrev and yes he is an amazing player. But he goes through this also. He will consistently square balls up for outs. They aren’t saying the better player will always lose, what they are saying is the game will handicap the players

You are absolutely correct. There are many players out there that do appear to make pretty solid contact and rarely swing outside the strike zone. I aspire to be that way. I swing at non-strikes less than 5% of the time. Well, based on what the lying PCI animates.
The problem with this whole Cbrev always wins thingie is this. Listen, and try to be open-minded.
Let's just say Cbrev has the best reflexes and eye on the planet. You have a whole tier, though, of other players that are just about as fast. Perhaps another 50k or so. I would say even more than that.
Now, throw in the fact the AI really only needs to manipulate animation on a few pitches in the whole game to give 'ol Cbrev a warning-track fly while letting his opponent get the "no bunt cheese!" is the only difference between a win and a loss.
So, again, I really don't believe the best player wins 95%. It just ain't part of how this game is coded.
And the fact someone is suggesting this adds to the fire there is some marketing manipulation going on somewhere.
