Any other Pure Analog Hitters Out There?
-
So I tried for a day and couldn't hit too well. Mostly grounders and weak pop-ups of liners. Not sure how the CPU PCI gets its location but it kind of makes no sense sometimes. I tried the PCI with flick and found my PCI thumb moves too much compared to the uses with the buttons. Unless someone has a better formula or can direct me to a tutorial, I will stick with PCI and the button for now. At least till SDS works on getting it more in line with other hitting syles.

OK, since I started playing with the Show 18, I have followed the "Online Youtube Guru's" to do zone/button. I'm ok at it ( I suck with online play) but I really need to try this Pure Analog/Stride thing. So what is the best setting for using it? Will I have a huge learning curve?
I got started using Pure Analog because I was used to playing the MLB 2K games on XBOX. The nice part is it seems more natural with pulling back on the stick and the hitter loading up, and then pushing forward and they swing. Only part that is frustrating is when you time a ball and hit an easy pop-up or grounder because the PCI is not user controlled. Makes it more realistic in my opinion because not every hitter squares up pitches that all are over the place which can tend to happen when people are really good at using Zone hitting. I recommend starting on Veteran difficulty to get the hang of things, for some reason on Rookie the pitches seem extra slow to me and it screws up my timing for Veteran and All-Star. I definitely think it has a smaller learning curve than Zone hitting, because you aren’t having to control the PCI and time your swing. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,@osimp8_PSN I gave it a try yesterday and got frustrated in trying to complete some of the Tony Kemp stuff. It really felt not to consistant. Forget trying to hit a HR with him using the flick. Maybe I need more time but the game moves fast if I take to much time to learn a new trick. Do you use flick of stride? Is there a timing thing with when to pull back to stride? Any thoughts?

Pure Analog Stride hitting is always the way to go when playing The Show, it seems more natural and doesn't involve aiming at a target like its Duck Hunt or button mashing X like its a baseball game from the 90s. Its an actual swing of a baseball bat but I'm sure you know that already, its just that causal PCI noobs don't understand that. But to get to your question..no, once you practice for a while and play about 20 games you'll get a feel for the hitting and you'll realize when you hit a high fly ball or hit into a double play its your fault...don't be discourage like a casual noob, just keep practicing and take swings and it will all come together.

I like the stride hitting. I think the best time to pull back is when the pitcher is coming to the end of their leg kick, but that might not be for everyone.

Just wanted to see what others who use Pure Analog Hitting are thinking of the game so far this year. Seems to be a lot more difficult to get solid hits. Double plays, mile high fly balls, and pop-ups to the catcher are very common occurrences for me this year. How about you guys?
Pure Analog here for me ... loving the gameplay but not having the issues you are in regards to solid hits. I used to use stride hitting as well but I grew tired of having to memorize everyone's strides and try to match it with the pitcher's delivery. My biggest struggle hitting is going with the outside pitches and being patient enough to wait on them.

But the timing of the stride for each batter is one of the thing that's awesome about Analog Stride....when I feel I'm not batting well with someone or their are in a slump I got into the batting cages and work on their swing before I play a game. Its so much better than button mashing X and moving a bullseye target around like I'm hunting birds.

Dude I'm not an online casual noob....I'm a simulation player. Why would I play some casual online that has no idea how to work the count and have no idea how a baseball game is suppose to be played?

@joshjays44_PSN @xMarTiiniix_XBL im telling you try out Zone-hitting with Analog to swing but turn PCI off and it will be invisible but you can still control with left analog where to flick it and will still show in window after where you placed PCI...ever since I’ve been using this I been Mashing..I’ve always used pure Analog since 2k and MLB too and switched to zone hitting but with swinging with Analog then eventually I turned PCI off after mastering it ....I feel like it’s so cheezy to just hit a X button to swing the analog def has a true life feel to it and I’ll never go back from using it

Yeah dude, I know the PCI will become invisible if I do your method but I want the hitter's ability stats to determine more of the outcome not only me..I sorta want it 50/50 so that's why I do just Analog Stride...again I'm more of a realistic player not a casual noob DD kinda guy that plays these games in an arcady kinda way. That's why playing this way Sliders play a major role, and a lot of time is spent perfecting it. And yes, I agree with you..pressing X is such a silly way to hit in the Show, its almost like playing a racing sim but you're using a controller instead of a wheel...soo nooby.

How much do you get paid to throw the word "noob" into every single one of your post? Plus I think you should look up the definition of it because I think you use it incorrectly.
Noob, duck hunt and casuals in a rotation; I think he keeps a notepad/word file and copy pastes the same posts all year every year

I agree... I still use the analog to hit just without the stride. So it's either just up for a normal swing or back then up for a power swing and left or right for a contact swing. I just got away from stride the last few years I have played due to just wanted to make my gameplay more efficient. I wish I still had time to go back in and learn each players strides but I just don't anymore. Basically I'm just lazy now lol.

Analog hitters get the shaft in this game

Do any other analog online players feel like it’s totally changed in the last couple of weeks? I was killing it and now I’m lucky if I get 3 hits in a game.
-
No. I do not use pure analog.

Josh, until you play online you will remain ignorant. Hitting on legend offline is like hitting on all-star or low tier hof online DD. It’s a lot harder then legend offline. Plenty of us who know the game just as well as you do. Plenty of great players who would destroy you and I promise you are not as good as you think and we all know how good you think you are. I respect that you use stride analog and I use it too but playing online DD is a different beast. If you are Canadian your ignorance is astounding. I am Canadian and I’ve humbled myself to realize these Yankees boys know their game and there are some [censored] good players who you can tell play real baseball year round their whole lives. Until you play online you are the noob who doesn’t know his place. If you are gonna brag make a video or something otherwise you just sound like some cracked out part-timer with some serious Rob Ford vibes. Get over yourself Man. -

Here's why online DD stuff is noobish, now I haven't played online but isn't there a default settings for all players to make the playing field is even?..so I'm guessing the pitch speeds for fastballs and offspeed is at default 5?. See to me that's way too slow so that's why it will be too easy for me..basically a fastball will seem like a changeup to me. Legend at pitch speeds max gives you .4 to .5 seconds to react so basically like in RL, that's the pace I wanna play at not at a snail's pace.

The pitch speeds on HOF DD are faster than legend default plus you have human opponents who can dot consistently which makes all the difference. But nvm that because you still haven’t shown any proof that you are the beast you say you are. You are a noob to reality. Come to DD and you will see...
