We all know you think your method is the best Josh... if you step in the box in real life, timing is the only thing that matters right? Doesn’t matter what plane you swing the bat, as long as the timing is perfect.

Now if you said Zone with analog stride, I’d say you have a point but pure analog is the least realistic method

if someone likes analog hitting then great! I don't understand why all the 'zone snobs' have to get on everyone who prefers analog or directional. I use to be a zone snob too but switched out of zone last year.

Zone hitting with Analog to swing with PCI invisible is the way to Go

It’s a fun way to play and that is what matters. If they turned balks on in DD it would be a lot more competitive to use but it can get frustrating trying to time your stride when pitchers aren’t getting set. When I play franchise I use zone plus analog with stride but DD it gets annoying having to hold r2 to force your opponent to get set so I just use zone with buttons

Who cares, thats the great thing about TheShow there are tons of different ways to play. If you think your way is best then just use it. End of discussion.

I have been playing on pure analog with stride since The Show 11 and have not wavered. There are days where I struggle and there are still pitches that I need to lay off. But it is arguably the most fluid way to hit in this game.

I used Pure Analog for about 10 days, just getting my timing down and learning to lay off bad pitches.
So after getting comfortable with that, I switched back to zone but stuck with the right stick on flick mode (instead of using the buttons to swing).
So now I'm using zone+flick and I love it.
PA is good against the CPU, all you do is wait on a meatball and swing, but against other humans who put the ball right on the corners and don't throw meatballs, zone is required and kind of easier.
If I noticed the guy that I am playing likes to go back to a certain spot often, I'll just sit on that spot and wait....BOOM. -
OK, since I started playing with the Show 18, I have followed the "Online Youtube Guru's" to do zone/button. I'm ok at it ( I suck with online play) but I really need to try this Pure Analog/Stride thing. So what is the best setting for using it? Will I have a huge learning curve?

Just wanted to see what others who use Pure Analog Hitting are thinking of the game so far this year. Seems to be a lot more difficult to get solid hits. Double plays, mile high fly balls, and pop-ups to the catcher are very common occurrences for me this year. How about you guys?
Pure Analog Hitting and Pitching 100% for me. There are a few player cards that are doing much better for me than versions did last year. I couldn't hit with Ruth or Griffey last year, but have been doing much better with them this year. I think my technique is improving with 21, but it's still very difficult to succeed against higher level pitchers who can dot. I am currently 29-25 in Ranked Seasons with highest rating of 605. In 2020, I made it to 675 and was one win from Division Series. I will be making Division series this year with my eyes on Championship Series.

I tried it last night and it's not bad. According to the strategy guide, stride is no longer a thing. Up for normal swing, hold back before the pitch then up for power swing. L or R for contact swing. I think if stride timing were a real thing, I'd abandon it in about 5 minutes.

I’ve been using analog since way back with 2k. Definitely not switching. It’s just frustrating.
2K is what got me started on using the stick to hit too!

I got started using Pure Analog because I was used to playing the MLB 2K games on XBOX. The nice part is it seems more natural with pulling back on the stick and the hitter loading up, and then pushing forward and they swing. Only part that is frustrating is when you time a ball and hit an easy pop-up or grounder because the PCI is not user controlled. Makes it more realistic in my opinion because not every hitter squares up pitches that all are over the place which can tend to happen when people are really good at using Zone hitting. I recommend starting on Veteran difficulty to get the hang of things, for some reason on Rookie the pitches seem extra slow to me and it screws up my timing for Veteran and All-Star. I definitely think it has a smaller learning curve than Zone hitting, because you aren’t having to control the PCI and time your swing. Let me know how it goes!

It's easy, here's how.
Play on pure analog until your right stick is on auto-drive, then switch to zone+analog and all you need to do is get good with PCI.
