@Dino-might_not See the bit about giving up home runs that are 2 feet outside the strike zone. That's crucial. It will help you avoid saying dumb things like "learn to pitch better" I think it illustrates that I'm not waltzing out there, hanging curveballs and spamming the same pitch and location over and over. Also, feel free to read back where I acknowledge things I like about the game. Hint: There's a lot more I like than don't like. My two biggest complaints are matchmaking and home run frequency and I believe they go hand in hand....so really it's only one problem. What's the issue with pointing out this one problem again? Oh....right. You're not experiencing those issues through a whopping 7 games. Got it. I'll shut up then, because clearly I'm wrong.

He's 7-0 on Veteran/All-Star. You and I can only dream to have his kind of talent.

Hall of Fame and Legend difficulties are the best way to play the game all star veteran and rookie are all really the same IMO all home run or strike out

@CubanDoctor21 Perfect response. You acknowledge my point of view and how it's valid, but also make it clear why you like the current product. I hope you're right and it does even out. For the record though, I wouldn't mind 9-7 games, just don't want all 16 of those runs coming off home runs.

@jonblaze2424_PSN Must have missed the 3 times I said I got taken yard with a pitch 2 feet out of the strike zone.

@SilverBullet3519 Sorry about that. It's just one of those things that happens when you're intelligent and have an expansive vocabulary. I'll try to dumb it down for you next time.

@SPORTPIMPIN_XBL Yeah, but imagine seeing your favorite restaurant going from being a 5 star establishment to a 2 star establishment. Are you really going to give up that quickly or will you try to get back the restaurant you spent so much time enjoying?

@brandonm13x_PSN I can only imagine haha. I'm stressed enough playing this game and probably won't break 500 with my RS ranking.

@Namtrah22_PSN I thought someone would say that. What if you don't want to wait for Events to be active or want to play a meatier game that goes beyond 3 innings (oh, well sometimes events are 6 innings) <---you don't have to say it now. My suggestion? Maybe RS Season 1 can be uncapped then Season 2 can have an overall cap of 90 and then Season 3 can be uncapped and Season 4 could have an overall cap of 85. Or if that's too much work, have a capped and uncapped RS mode. But like I stated earlier...I believe this is too much to ask for, and something I'm in the minority in.

Plenty of my "favorite" restaurants have changed ownership , chefs , location etc [censored] happens after its over its over time to move on to the next I'll never forget I had the best breakfast spot in the world it was like they madd everything I loved better than I ever could and the chef was my guy I went to this place 3-5 times a week for 18 years chef got cancer sold the joint to some dumb@$$ that made a Busgirl/dishwasher/waitress the lead chef I loved this place so much I still went back after the ownership change she made my food raw and I never returned it was over 😆🤣😂 RIP UPTOWN CAFE 😢🙏💔

@SPORTPIMPIN_XBL Sad... It's like every single Roast Beef restaurant started serving raw meat, now I can never eat at a Roast Beef restaurant again, unless I go get my own Roast Beef and prepare it myself. But everyone knows you need 17 other guys to help you get the Roast Beef home for you all to enjoy. Or you can sign up for a Roast Beef club for about $300, but that usually only lasts about 10 luncheons. I guess I just live in a world without Roast Beef in my life. And no, I don't want to look in the freezer for stored Roast Beef from over the years...I like my Roast Beef up to date.

Yes, I agree with OP 100%. This is the main reason I didn’t buy the game this year for the first time since ‘16, swiftly followed by the fact that in game outcomes seemed totally random last year, as opposed to adhering to user input, timing and even actual physics, plus the fact I absolutely hated the content last year and the direction SDS were heading with it. None of the supposedly elite cards stood out or felt special at all, they were simply lost in a sea of crappy diamonds that were ridiculously overrated and rendered all content generic and uninteresting.

Almost everything I’ve read on the forum today has been what I’ve been thinking for the last few years. RNG/DDA over input, too many HR, Pitching and defense treated as not relevant compared to hitting which has become the entire focus of DD.

Seems like I made the right choice to avoid ‘21. Servers have been awful until very recently and it seems the core H2H gameplay is still extremely flawed and unbalanced in favour of offense. There’s still a fair amount of bugs and glitches that should have been fixed long ago and same tired commentary lines we’ve heard forever............. Sigh.

Where are you playing most of your games? There are plenty of pitcher’s parks to choose from. It makes a huge difference. The real issue in the game is inconsistent gameplay such as the game overcompensating in order to keep games close as well as huge momentum boosts. I understand there are momentum swings in real life as well but it’s not like a player swinging a hot bat has any actual advantage. In the game we get constantly changing PCI which leads to very inconsistent results as it relates to user input. It makes no sense to me why one inning PCI input results in an IF pop up but the next the exact same input results in a home run simply bc I might be down a few runs or the pitcher is beginning to tire. Fielding is just as bad as guys will start making errors on routine grounders or they’ll look like they’re suddenly moving in slow motion and not able to track down a routine fly ball (this is something I noticed a lot more last year). Infielders suddenly taking forever to get rid of the ball and guys beating out grounders is another common example. These types of dramatic swings in gameplay just make the game feel rigged, I can’t be the only one who feels this way.

Ah yes, the game scripting element. That's a whole other topic, really, but I've definitely noticed that too over the years (every sports game really) NBA Hangtime...basically NBA Jam, would keep players in the game if the score started getting out of control. If I'm up 12, I will start missing every shot whereas my opponent will make every shot, all to make the games seem close and competitive. It worked GREAT for Hangtime and that's because it was an arcade game. While I don't think it's that obvious in MLB or other sports games, I definitely do believe the game will give you a window of opportunity to get back into the game. Like I'm never surprised if someone can't touch my pitchers all game and then suddenly in the 8th or 9th inning they can't swing the bat without the ball landing in the gap or going over the fence.

I still remember playing my friend in the Show 19. Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and a man on 3rd. He hits a routine ground ball to my shortstop, who bobbles the ball and loses the game. There's no other way to describe it...the game decided I was going to lose.

This is the poison in the veins of MLB the Show 21. Pitching input not being respected killed MLB 19 and volume of home runs will kill this year's game. Maybe people enjoy an unrealistic arcade-like experience, but surely I can't be alone in this?

Here's my pitchers stats so far (hits allowed vs home runs allowed)
Pedro Martinez 91 overall...26 hits, 9 of which were homers.
Max Scherzer 89 overall...46 hits, 12 of which were homers.
Joe Musgrove 88 overall...21 hits, 2 of which were homers.
Carlos Rodon 88 overall...9 hits, 1 of which was a homer.
Brent Honeywell Jr. 83 overall...9 hits, 2 of which were homers.
Nathan Eovaldi 86 overall...13 hits, 6 of which were homers.
Mike Clevinger 83 overall...13 hits, 3 of which were homers.
Giovanny Gallegos 81 overall...4 hits, 2 of which were homers.
Andrew Miller 80 overall...2 hits, 1 of which was a homer.
Aroldis Chapman 80 overall...19 hits, 2 of which were homers.
Dan Plesac 81 overall...12 hits, 5 of which were homers.
    Darren O'Day 76 overall...5 hits, 1 of which was a homer.
Aaron Bummer 76 overall...7 hits, 3 of which were homers.
Huston Street 87 overall...7 hits, 2 of which were homers.
Raisel Iglesias 78 overall...6 hits, 2 of which were homers.

These weren't all my pitchers, but 15 that I've used most. While it wasn't nearly as bad as I was thinking...it still equates to roughly 28% of hits resulting in homers. According to a google search, 15.9% of hits are home runs. Admittedly that's higher than I thought, but still means home runs in this game are nearly twice as frequent as real life.

Long story short, the game needs to fix this ASAP. I'm not ready to make MLB 21 a single player only experience.

Are you talking about online competitive mode? If so, I would expect more HRs than real life.
Offline simulation mode is a different story.

@BuddyHightower_XBL Yes, competitive. While I think I'd experience less home runs if I'm not playing someone who either dedicates their life to the game or is just disproportionately skilled, it still doesn't change the fact that almost 30% of hits I give up are home runs. Practically every game I've played has been determined by home runs. There's a lot of ways to win a baseball game, but as has been discussed, MLB the Show 21 at this point in time is home run or bust. I haven't selected my 1st inning program legend yet, but honestly why would anyone select someone who isn't Mike Piazza? Position players without power are almost useless and when hitting has a distinct advantage, there's no reason to select a pitcher....so that just leaves the guy with 90+ power on both sides of the plate. It's the same thing NBA 2K did nerfing guys like Shaq, in favor of 3 point shooting centers. That's not basketball and this isn't baseball.

That's exactly who I selected. My RS record is 5-7 (I think). I win and lose games by a run or two. Been blown out a couple times probably by more skilled players.
    Learn PinPoint pitching.

Oh, and my point is though, franchise mode on simulation game mode has exactly what you want.

I appreciate it. I play Franchise and RTTS too, but I do like Diamond Dynasty...90% of it anyway. I don't want to stop playing altogether just because of the home run issue.
