eroding margins in the Market

You know, if there is a big gap because someone outbids largely to sell through quick, you can always make a normal bid just better than the second best bid.
If you’re not in a huge hurry you will get a better margin AND help everyone else out while getting things back on track.
Typically if someone massively undercuts I'll buy theirs too and just make the same profit I would've anyway. its nbd for me, just confusing as to why people would sell themselves short bc they dont want to wait 3 minutes

It’s funny how a lot of market flippers get mad at impatient people but don’t understand that they’d never sell a card if it weren’t for people being impatient and hitting “buy now” on their cards.
Some people value their time more than a few stubs.

the question at hand wasn't about impatience. it was the massive undercuts that was tanking certain cards that seemed to make no sense. I didnt know if there was a specific reason this was happening other than impulsivity. It seems just a result from the free stubs bc i already am seeing it less and less.
-
I would assume part of it is they open the pack and immediately list on the market without actually seeing prices....it's been a good way for me to make a few extra stubs lately. Also can we do away with the 10% tax because I am starting to feel bad buying things for less that quicksell

When it comes to the market, people are going to do what they're going to do. Only thing you can do is try to find a way to work around it. There's plenty of stubs to be had by anyone who plays the market.
I agree and im not trying to regulate how people play the market. I Just dont know why people would do that or maybe I was missing some type of tactic
It's no tactic; people are simply impatient. It's the same reason MLB is destroying the game of baseball; because of impatience. Everyone has to get immediate satisfaction now. I used to love buying tickets for doubleheaders booked BEFORE the season started; it was a DAY at the ballpark. People can't even watch a game at a stadium now without looking at their phone. They don't understand the intricacies of the batter/pitcher matchup. You can still get value on cards, just put it out there and be patient. It may take a few hours, may take a few days, but it WILL sell.

There’s an influx of cards right now because of the bundle SDS just gave out. You’ll just have to wait until it levels out again.
No i get that, I just dont understand why anyone would see a listing for 50k and then decide to list theirs for 43k. doesnt make sense
Some people just don't care about 5k here and 3k there. Just post your card, get your stubs in 2 minutes and move on. Never understood why people care what others do in an open market... my impatience is another person's gain. I will always post my cards the cheapest available... just to get it done, I don't care about scrounging up every stub I can... I don't stress about stubs whatsoever.... if I run out, I buy more.

Have you not read the thread whatsoever? I have said multiple times I'm not trying to regulate how people work the market and I have no problem with it. It just didnt make sense to me and I wanted more context in case there was something going on in the market.

It doesnt even take hours or days, if you just commit to the market you can make good amounts of stubs pretty fast. Idk about anyone else but i will gladly keep my money away from SDS and work the market for a hour net a ton of stubs. Doesnt mean my way is the right way though

All I can say is that if someone has very limited time to play daily (1-2 hours), I’m sure they don’t want to spend half of it nickel and dimming 4-5 guys who undercut each other by 1-5 measly stubs. They want to post the card, sell it and actually play baseball as opposed to make believe NYSE

you do know you can do exactly what you said, post the card and play. Go play a moment or something and the card is most likely sold. Im not saying everyone has to do this but I think there's a gross misunderstanding of how long cards move especially with so many new players. you can list like 5-6 cards and make thousands in the matter of like 10 minutes. The problem is people think you have to sit there and post order after order only moving the order 1 stub at a time. You dont have to do this to make stubs but do whatever makes you happy

Some are doing it because the sell now is broken, so they use the sell now number to place the card on the buy now side from the pack. I’ve done it a few times

Remember that a huge number of people are flipping so a lot of the time you are just selling to other flippers. Volume>>>>>Margin. You might get a better price but another guy just sold 5 while you waited.
This is big too.. Volume, you need volume. I got into a little spiff with a streamer not too long ago who insisted people were breaking the market by doing stupid things... I tried to explain, to no avail, that those mistakes actually created the market. He was pointing out these bigs gaps on cards also and I tried again, unsuccessfully to explain that sometimes those big gaps you see are on cards that don't move, no volume... whats the point in making 20k if in that amount of time you could have made 40 by flipping cards that move...
This is what I finally understood this year. I came here from madden where it's less about volume and more about the profit per card flipping.
This year I figured it out that MLB was about volume mostly. Esp early on. I mean sure there cN be good profit flips but I completed the LS collection last night with 900K in the bank (gotucky and pulled trout and cole) mostly on the back of 200-600 profit flips in massive volume.
Previous years I treated it like madden which didn't work and I'd get frustrated and stop trying. Glad I put in some time to figure it out this year.
Now I can expand beyond flipping into short-term and long-term investments that I hope will pay off.
