So, like most out here I just breezed through 1st Inning Showdown. Won every match and was down one run with 20 outs to go against the Boss. Obviously, with a stacked lineup and diamond perks on every pitch it just make sense you easily get that one run and one more to win.
Nope. After waiting for 15 minutes for the servers to stabilize themselves (AGAIN) I get in for the final showdown against Fernando. Do get a 120 mph homerun from Judge after 4 AB's to tie.
Then 16 straight outs. Not even the "tantalizing" single followed by the obligatory double-play SDS so cleverly throws in to keep things "exciting".
Nope just a silly impossible Boss.
I'm guessing they've coded some randomized win thing into these Showdowns? Just really curious as to what it takes. Good, timely batting sure doesn't do it. Skill is meaningless as, obviously, are the diamond perks. Really an insult to those of us that take the time to get the particulars of this game down.

At least you didn't beat it only to get an Unhandled Server Exception Occured error after the game.

It's not a question of beating it. We all have been playing this game long enough to see the patterns and understand timing and hitting skills. How to read pitches and all that.
It's a question of WHEN the game (AI or whatever) decides to produce the animation that supports your win. It's like a roulette wheel. Spin it and pray.
I'm sure all sorts of ppl have beaten it. Doing the same exact thing those of us that haven't won yet have done. Just frustrating that skill really doesn't have a whole lot to do with outcomes.
Add in the horror show the servers have been thus far and it's double-frustration.

You could've won the Showdown instead only to have the server issues tell you that it was counted as a loss. Nothing like pushing out new content, spending time going through it, then none of it counting because we're playing some half baked version of the game that's clearly not ready for release, let alone a full blown cross-platform launch.

You're right. It's no more the games fault that you lose than the BlackJack dealer's fault that throws you a bust card. It's all the luck of the draw.
But, it sure doesn't have much to do with the player's abundance or lack of skill..that's for sure.
Every year I buy this game hoping that they've figured out a way to accurately decide outcomes based on player's controller input.
But, then I run into the same 'ol same 'ol. Not only does it make the losses dissapointing..it really takes the fun out of winning.

I feel you ... I just lost going into it down only 1 run. I am like 20-2 in TA showdowns ... I guess this just happens ... Fernando man ... ugh

Yeah, I'm only 19-1 right now. Hope to get that 20th win so I can be there with your greatness. But, I did beat the showdown. 2nd time through I'm down 2 runs going in and had hammered Fernando 3 AB's in to walk-off a winner.
That's the whole point my friend. Most pieces of this game are just like a slot-machine pull. Your 20-2 or my 19-1 are just illusions. Not skill, but that's ok. Either one of us could go 2-20 or 1-19. It's how this game works. No offense.
