They’re focusing on the wrong thing. Hitting was fine the way it was. The problem was that too many pitches seemed to float over the heart of the plate regardless of pitcher attributes and user input. Hence the reason so many balls are ending up in the stands.
Edit: the only problem with the hitting pre patch was that sometimes balls that were hit with good/ok contact would leave the yard when your pci was hardly on it. Or sometimes you would get good/ok contact feedback when your feedback showed you were practically right on the ball.

Offline XP has been reduced too. Meanwhile I can't get Eck because of the bugs
The bottom line for me is that If I can't get to 300 stars in the first inning, with the added points I will earn doing the full US map in conquest then I am probably done with the game.
It will remind me of '18 when after one month I realized that there was no chance I was even going to be able to earn 1 immortal so I simply quit.

When the only way to get a lot of points is Showdown which is now unplayable uf you aren't a hitting god...
-
pitch speeds need to be increased yet I feel like SDS will do everything else they can before actually doing this

I remember last year they drastically cut program stars after the 1st inning.

I did the first inning and skipped the second and third, but I was able to get to three hundred every other inning playing strictly offline.

They ruined hitting. It’s hard to lock on to anything now. They also messed with the timing window. So all the hours you got used to the way the game was is thrown out the window. It’s not just the PCI. The timing window is horrible.
Timing feels a lot like luck now.

While I haven’t tried it yet, I wonder why they don’t just keep hitting the way it is and jack up the pitch speeds to 16 level with smaller pcis. I’m still a believer that hitter/pitcher dynamic of 16 was the best. 20 would be if the speeds were realistic with the current ball physics and timing Windows. Just my 2 cents

For me I am going to get there just on sheer hours of game play, because I sucked at Showdown before the patch.

In what mode though? The problem for offline players, one that the online players do not really have to deal with, is that once we have completed the inning specific Conquest and Showdown (if you can finish it) and any player programs like the one for Granderson then there is nothing left to do but grind meaningless games for the sake of XP.
In Ranked Seasons, and even Events gamers are playing for a purpose, to improve their rank and earn better rewards. If you play offline all that is left is to play "vs CPU" games that have no point or re-running the US conquest map and earn another 10 pack of bronze and common cards.

Yeah, that's what they did last year too. I was hitting over 300 for the first three weeks, then the messed with the timing windows and it never felt good after that.
People go crazy about PCI size, but it's usually the timing window that breaks hitting.

Imagine that. A competitive player is upset that the patch messed with his attempt to be a perfect player.
This is exactly what I was saying before. These guys who are completitive want everything to be so they can dominate the casuals and hit easier HRs. I'm glad it messed him up.

Just playing conquest. I mean if I am not playing DD I'll be playing Franchise, so its play vs CPU no matter what I do. I've already beat all 3 maps, but I'll just keep doing the big map. What else am I going to do

Actually showdown is fun, albeit frustrating. And you can grind team affinity way faster ( technically, if you win) through the division showdowns.

So the answer is to make the game unplayable to average/casual players so the top 1% cant hit 450?
That seems like trying to swat a fly with a missile.

It looked fun when they showed it, however since I have failed the 1st inning one 6 times before the patch, so doubt I'll ever finish one, I just dont see how I am ever going to enjoy it.

I enjoy conquest, I really do, but i can't run it multiple times per inning simply to earn the 30-40 extra program points. That is 12 hours or more of playtime.
