125 max attributes might be gone

Movie revealed Salvy Perez for the 42 program and showed the attributes. He had 90ish power and the bar was almost filled to the top, seemingly no room to run up to 125. This would be a big W in my book, I've been arguing to get rid of it since day 1 of MLBTS 18 when they first introduced this nonsense.
I don't think they are. The attribute screen looked exactly the same in the tech test and the bars just didn't visually go past 99.
Edit: also if they got rid of 125 attributes I really doubt an 88 Salvador Perez would have 85/90 out of 99 power either

Wouldn't that indicate that 125 is in fact no longer there? Or did you actually see it and/or use a player with an attribute above 99?
-
42s so far have all been low diamonds. A Low Diamond Salvy wouldn't have 100+ power.

The attribute still says 120 or 125 or whatever and the bar stops at where 99 would be. I really don't think they would have gotten rid of 125 attributes without changing the diamonds back to 90+ only

Why not? Overall attributes means nothing, since we don't know how they weigh certain attributes. The screen shows that the attribute bar stops are 99, I think it would be super weird that this would "just be a visual thing with actual stats going beyond 99" but I guess we'll find out.

Was there ever any explanation for the increase to 125?

To seperate the immortals(Griffey, Babe, Pujols, Chipper etc.) from the rest of the pack. It was fine in 19 IMO. I generally don't have a problem with it other than the Monthly awards and Topps now of 20. It's perfectly fine on Prime, Awards, and sig series cards if you ask me

They wanted more card variety and made the argument that increasing the cap to 125 would allow them to do so; it theoretically allowed them to value pure power hitters (or pure contact hitters) for their true power by giving them 125 power while 99 would've been the cap before. And then Chipper Jones for example had mid 90s power on the 99 scale in 17, while a pure power hitter like Frank Thomas for example (wasn't in the game back then, but just as an example) couldn't go beyond 99 while it goes without saying that Frank Thomas is an absolute unit compared to Chipper Jones who of course is great as well but shouldn't have similar power attributes as Frank. And so the difference between Chipper and a guy like Frank Thomas would be so small that it wouldn't accurately represent their abilities.
So on paper this move made a lot of sense and it sounded great. In reality it doesn't matter one bit, since you can hit homeruns consistently with anyone who has 80+ power and also 125 power still leads to flyouts sometimes on good timing and good placement. So it does absolutely nothing in that regard AND on top of that it's actually working against their idea of more card variety; everyone still uses the same cards because nobody uses a subpar power hitter like Sandberg or Minoso even though it really doesn't matter based on my previous argument; they can hit the ball out just fine.
So long story short, the idea was good but the actual implementation does nothing. So why not get rid of it. Everyone is still using the same cards like Trout, Mantle, Griffey, Tatis, Gehrig or whatever. Now they just have 125 instead of 99 attributes, wooptidoo.

Everybody who wants 125 max stats to be taken out of DD and to go back to 99 with less 99 overall players, say I
-
The higher the limit, the more accurate they can make the attributes. Ya feel me?

@the_dragon1912 said in 125 max attributes might be gone:
Those are some ugly fielding stats. That looks like a pinch hitter/bench card to me.
-
So it really doesn't matter if the stats go to 125 or not. If they keep the stats at 99 what does that get you if they alter every card accordingly? Plus with all the hitting, pitching, and fielding manual inputs, that elite World Series player is going to destroy most players in more than one area now.

It's April. Poor fielding stats don't mean squat the first 2 months. Saying "bench bat" for a card that will rot in inventories by the middle of may regardless is dumb IMO

They need to stop with giving everyone 99's. 99's should only be for GOATS sort of like immortals in 18. They need to cap LS plays like at 93 and rest of the big names should be anywhere from 94-98. No way should future starts be anywhere near Trout's level. They need to be cap @ like 85. Same thing with Topp now cards. Just because you had 1 [censored] good game doesn't mean you deserve a 95+ card. Doing this would make 99's rare.

It would also make them to where they are the only cards used, like the immortals were in 18. That game got so stale I quit playing it in July. There is a reason they haven't gone back to it. Some don't like it, but more 99s keep people playing the game later in the year. Having the "immortals" being the only 99s is not a good thing

@Raider52Morrison Future stars cards are fine. Immortals ruined MLB 18, and the live series/topps now cards were a little juiced because of the pandemic shortened season. Obviously that’s not what they originally planned.
