With more powerful consoles now available, what should SDS put in '22?

#1 is a terrible, horrible idea that should never happen.
#2: Would involve revealing PII data, which is a big giant no-no.
#4 If you've already got umpiring set to perfect/perfect, the only reason you'd challenge something is if there was a bug which the game couldn't do anything about in real time. So, what's the point? (and as I type this, @Dolenz_PSN says more or less the same thing.)
#5: Would like to see this in 21.
#8: Another terrible, horrible idea.
#9: Would just lead to more FQ's/backouts. If you REALLY want to know, you could always lookup their universal profile and see their ranked W/L record. (https://mlb20.theshow.com/universal_profiles/a_perfectgame)
#11: Not sure the exception code is gonna catch that.
The PII exposure would be no different than any other online web transaction. Exact ages would not be exposed to individual players, or even SDS, which is no different than other online transactions and would not be a PII issue. A person could put in a 'player age range' filter and if they wanted to play ball, they could expose an age range (wouldn't have to expose an exact range.) It would let us adults play other adults, where the bunt dancing, rage texts don't happen. The feature could be self-policing, as the adults who just want to have fun can easily see who would be abusing the feature and report them. Three strikes and the abusing player would no longer be able to specify a range to play against for 2 weeks.
Or....we just wait for Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act to pass and then SDS will be forced to make big changes to the game. Either way, that will be coming to the game, eventually.

First, as long as the PS4 and Xbox One are supported then actual gameplay features that require more horsepower will be limited on the next gen consoles for the sake of parity.

- Instant replay and challenges for online play
I have yet to figure out why people want this. Theoretically the online umps should make no mistakes, especially with their focus on more competitive game play online. More often than not when you believe the online up is wrong it is simply due to the animation not syncing up with the result.
People would use it simply as another stall method to annoy their opponents.
It changes up the game in a custom league or friendly 1 vs 1 game. Not always having perfect umpires makes the game more interesting/fun, in my opinion. It's kind of a whole new game, and the game within the game. Instant replay and challenges for friendlies and league games just makes the game different. That is the reason (and both are a different type of online play, yet still online play mode.)
I could see it in custom or friendly leagues but when you say online most people's minds, including mine, jump to DD online modes.
Understood about the immediate jump. However, as I pointed out, those other modes are online, just a different type of online mode.

120fps @ 4k
@tvsectog_psn said in With more powerful consoles now available, what should SDS put in '22?:
8k @60
These will not be possible on current hardware. If so they would have to reduce the visuals so much it would be horrible.

Universal DH option for DD online games
This will happen when MLB does it.

I know that 120fps @ 4k is possible on the PS5 and Xbox Series X systems. 120@ 1080p is also possible on the Xbox One S. The Xbox Series S can also run 120@1440p and 1080p.
Also, Microsoft and the Xbox Series X are ahead of the PS5 in terms of 120fps support.

I will believe 4K at 120 FPS when I see it. Definitely will not be on this game title though. No surprise that article mentioned nothing about it. 1440 and 1080 at 120FPS should be no problem though for PS or Xbox.

Online team play and Co-op DD where we can each grind through things like conquest with and friend and earn XP and TA innings at the same time.

I stopped reading after 9v9.
Their servers can't even handle H2H and you want to add 16 more people to the mix

A realistic game. Balks on for ranked seasons. Better broadcast for online ranked seasons. More replays in online ranked seasons. Overall, just better presentation, more depth.

This is very true. I believe SDS purposely doesn’t put peoples RS rating before the game for the sole purpose of people quitting.
People send friendlies if they didn’t get home team, they play someone they feel MIGHT give them a challenge, and a variety of other reasons.
People quit from 1 run in the 1st. Also among a variety of other reasons. It would be cool to see a rating - personally I’d like to see it— but I have to agree that it just opens the door for yet more quitting in a game that is plagued with quitting.

I’d love people to quit solely because of my rating if I was a high ranked player, it will save my pitcher’s stamina and get me an easy win

It would also save you spending 45+ mins on a game only to be rewarded with 0-3 points added to your ranking.
