Clemente Free Day 1

I am now convincing myself more that 99 Clemente is going to be a Jackie like program that is available on day 1 (including all stages). With Clemente being the socially impactful person that he was (besides his great beast all ability), I can’t imagine they put him behind a pay wall. I also think there is no better way to show off to the new Xbox players how much better the show is than other ultimate team games than by having a huge name end game card available for free at launch.
I do think the “program” will likely take a while, so even the most obsessed will struggle to get it done in April, but having available to everyone and early will be a huge win and SDS knows it.

Do you know what a paywall actually is?
A Clemente will be available Day 1. I can't remember a single legend they've ever announced for any year that didn't have at least some version available Day 1.

I think they'll have an 86 diamond for him in the diamond choice pack like Ortiz / Sheff this past year, but I don't think we'll see the 99 until much later.

Right, but I am guessing his 99 will be in a Jackie like program that is out at launch (and likely his rookie will be in the program really early).

He will probably be the MLB collections reward with a low diamond available from day 1, similar to Mantle, Williams, Mays, and Vladdy in years past.

I think a 86-87 version is in the diamond choice pack with a low 90s version acquired from an early program and his 99 will be the legends and collection reward

this is what i think I think he would be a diamond choice at the beginning and then his 99 I would think NL collection or maybe even MLB, but probably more NL collection reward

Looks like my prediction is looking better. Aaron will definitely be LS, which means no way they “waste” Clemente as the NL (only need 1 big name to sell stubs).

He definitely was announced pre release last year, in the wave of legends that were announced through content creators(Olerud, Robin and Brian Roberts, Foster, etc.)

How do I know this? We had somebody draft him in our pre season legend draft for CL.

Unless they've got him plotted as one of the mid-year megabosses (Griffey/Piazza/Jackie in 19, Mo/Ortiz/Walker in 20), I don't see how they wait to release his ultimate 99. The blowback will be DEAFENING.)

You only need 1 big name as MLB to sell stubs. Wasting 2 other huge names would be an amateur business mistake.

2-3 is probably the best. (Die-hard Yankee fans may not be as juiced for Pedro, for example. It's why last year's Mo/Ortiz combo was near perfect.)
But you're right in the abstract: loading everyone up NOW leaves nothing in the tank for future years. Which means while we'd LOVE to have the likes of Randy, DiMaggio, ARod, Yaz, McGwire/Sosa, etc, it makes sense to space them out so that each edition can have it's own selling points.

Pedro and Aaron as BR or RS reward imo. Lol jk. Aaron is live series for sure abs hopefully Pedro is a 99 boss later on with a 90-92 card early on out of some program
